Main Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Chief Engineer to join the pre-opening team for the Mandai Rainforest Resorts by Banyan Tree. Possessing strong technical skills and leadership abilities, the incumbent will support the Director of Engineering to maintain all the Resort’s facilities, ensuring all engineering systems are functioning efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Department, including maintaining and repairing the Resort’s equipment and systems. In performing this role, the incumbent will conduct routine inspections, determine appropriate rectification measures and ensure ongoing preventive maintenance.
• Ensure adherence and compliance with all engineering related regulations as well as safety, health and environmental standards. The Assistant Chief Engineer will be responsible for establishing and updating emergency procedures, conducting regular inspections and maintaining records.
• Cultivate a strong people culture by investing in the coaching and development of team members. The Assistant Chief Engineer will take ownership of people-management matters for the department including recruiting, upskilling and mentoring team members. This includes coaching team members to ensure that all day-to-day operational matters are handled on time and that guest expectations are met.

Job Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the hospitality industry. Pre-opening experience and Fire Safety knowledge would be useful.
• Proven track record in maintenance and knowledge of electrical, plumbing and other mechanical systems. This includes the ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints and other related documents.
• Able to commit to after office hours duties when required and/or shift work.
• Able to work and lead contractors in all work-related activities.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

The Policy Planning Department (POPD) is responsible for the formulation of strategic policies related to environmental protection and public health.

[What you will be working on]

As Assistant Manager/ Manager/ Executive Manager/ Assistant Director for this position, you will work closely in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, and be involved in the following:

• Formulate and review key policies and strategies to achieve Singapore’s environmental public health objectives, taking into account factors such as global trends, technological developments, and research advancements.

• Support Senior Management to advance NEA’s strategic priorities, including aligning efforts across various Divisions and managing key inter-agency policy platforms.

• Coordinate preparation for Committee of Supply budget debates, replies to Parliamentary Questions, and legislative amendments.

• Participate in cross-departmental workgroups on environmental public health issues (e.g. smoking, vector control, etc).

• Other duties as assigned.

[What we are looking for]

The job might be for you if you possess the following:

• At least 1 - 2 years of experience in policy-making and/or environmental public health management and/or inter-agency work, would be preferred.

• Passion for environmental public health protection and adept at engaging both industry and public stakeholders.

• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Design and develop optoelectronics devices, including but not limited to FP lasers, DFB lasers, gain chips, SLEDs, semiconductor optical amplifier, electro‐absorption modulator/laser, photonics integrated circuits and their packaged modules, as well as photonics systems such as external cavity lasers to meet design goals and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform and overall in charge of simulation of optoelectronic devices (CrossLight, ALDS, Optiwave), optical ray tracing (Zemax, Optalix), thermal (Solidworks) and electrical (5Spice) properties of optoelectronics devices
• Analysis of optoelectronics device epi growth and wafer fabrication process integration, device functional and reliability performance characterization and test results, referencing to the state‐of‐art, simulated performance, data‐mining internal test‐results database, and refine design, fabrication specifications, and simulation model and parameters to optimize fit between design and measured outcomes
• Report generation of design and simulation outcome with support of experimental data
• Build up database of optoelectronics device design white papers, and management of all design documentation repository.
• In charge of all engineering devices and coaching and mentoring and guiding engineers of all levels and able to interact and work well with other departments
• Versed to be able to define and develop device test and characterization methodologies to extract basic intrinsic parameters of optoelectronics devices
• Task oriented and able to meet timeline and execute projects efficiently

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ working experience with technical background in optoelectronics and wafer fab processes in optical laser component, photonics device system and sub‐ system
• Proven working experience in optoelectronics design and program/project management in the manufacturing industry

Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; Master's degree or Ph.D. is highly desirable. 
• At least 10-15 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, preferably within the renewable energy sector or a closely related field. 
• Demonstrated experience in leading the development and deployment of innovative technologies, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, energy storage, etc.). 
• Proven track record of successfully managing R&D initiatives and guiding technologies from concept to commercialization. 
• Strong strategic acumen with the ability to anticipate industry trends and adapt technology strategies to leverage market opportunities. 
• Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and lead high-performing technical teams. 
• Superior analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on driving business results through technology. 
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience in an international or multicultural environment with a focus on renewable energy markets.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Business Mandarin is required to effectively manage Chinese-speaking senior stakeholders, as well as technical and engineering teams based in China. 

Responsibilities would include:

• Client coverage, origination, advisory and financing of transactions in the sector across asset class such as offshore wind, floating solar, solar, onshore wind, LNG to power, amongst others
• Maintain strong client relationships with all the key sector players in Asia
• Dual responsibility to promote wider products of bank in the sector such as DCM, M&A, sustainable finance
• Deal origination: identify new opportunities across the region, prepare financial proposals, monitor market developments and opportunities, and liaise with various internal, external stakeholders (banks, advisors, legal firms, etc.) and clients as necessary
• Deal execution: review/prepare credit paper and other related materials, lead the documentation and negotiation process, review financial models and guide junior staff members on the process, and oversee completion of all aspects of loan administration and execution until drawdown

Profile of ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• Good written and verbal communications skills
