Summary

The Resource Allocator is responsible for maximizing the utilization of available resources and providing a dynamic real-time resource allocation plan by optimally allocating the key operational resources including manpower, equipment and facilities on the day of operation. This position demands a high level of coordination, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.The Resource Allocator will be working across all ground handling functions, as required by the business. The Resource Allocator works on 12 hours rotating shift over 2 days and 2 nights per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake the allocation activities in 3 phases:
• Pre-planning taking into account the expected demands, schedules and rostered resources, pre-plan the allocation of tasks 48 hours in advance of the shift as per agreed timetable and departments specifics.
• Shift allocation planning during the shift, prior and/or at the start of the appropriate shift, taking into account the actual availability of resources to include manpower, equipment and facilities, re-check the pre-plan and undertake the detailed allocation of all resources ensuring that allocation is undertaken according to load.
• Real time, taking into account the availability of resources and the dynamic operational environment, undertake all aspects of the real-time allocation of resources in line with the actual loads. Actively monitor the achievement of tasks and adapt the allocation plans as required due to differentials in actual time versus planned time taken to complete tasks. Effectively adapt allocation plans according to unscheduled demands such as delays.
• Pre-plan deployment and provide input on overtime necessary to meet service standards
• Continually monitor deployment to ensure maximum efficiency, responding swiftly to operational challenges, such as equipment breakdowns, staff shortages, or sudden changes in weather conditions. This requires quick, informed decision-making based on proposals by the application to resolve issues with minimal disruption to airport operations.
• Actively work with the operational shift in-charge by providing expert advice, input and direction in order to respond to dynamic changes during the shift for example in cases of staff sickness or absence actively review allocation plans and make recommendations as to whether replacement or over-time is required. Undertake actions as agreed to update the administration section regarding staff non-attendance.

• Effectively communicate the resource allocation plan to the resources either directly or via the operational shift in charge and continually monitor the progress of the assigned tasks to the resources.
• Ensure that robust and effective resource allocation plans are in place and utilised during scheduled and unscheduled system outages.
• Work as part of a team of resource allocators ensuring smooth handover to and from colleagues on shift duties and covering for other departments or areas as required.

• Be part of Technical team responsible for maintaining and ensuring the serviceability of all systems and equipment at Inflight Catering Centre (ICC) 1 & 2
• Be technically proficient in all aspects of maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting the full range of ICC systems and equipment (e.g. warehouse systems, material handling and automation systems, refrigeration systems, kitchen equipment, packaging and inspection machines, washing machines, waste management systems, etc.) and other technical related knowledge

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that the correct quantity and meal types are sent to the Food Bank on time and that meals are stored accurately

• Collect, check and hand over meals and catering items to crew and monitor last minute top up of meals
• Conduct quality control checks on completed equipment carts and ensure that equipment are present according to the correct Equipment Loading Plan
• Push meal carts and carry catering equipment in the kitchen and on-board aircraft
• Handle and transport meal orders between the kitchen and the aircraft
