The School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences invites applications for the position of Research Associate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and setup the technique fs laser direct-write and optical cavity integration.
• Setup and align optical beamlines/setups for home-built micro-transient optical spectroscopy experiments.
• Conduct micro-transient absorption spectroscopy studies on the measurements of carrier diffusion length.
• Perform data analysis and data interpretation of micro-transient optical spectroscopy experiments independently.
• Assist the principal investigator with the writing of research papers.
• Assist the principal investigator with the writing of research grants.
• Assist the principal investigator in the supervision and mentoring of a small research team comprising of post-graduate students and undergraduate students.

Job Requirements:

• MSc Degree
• Minimum 3 years of Research Experience in Ultrafast Lasers and Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy of semiconductor materials.
• Minimum 3 years of Research Experience in the study of photophysics in semiconductor systems.
• Excellent knowledge in chemical synthesis, optics, photophysics of semiconductors, charge and quasi-particle dynamics, charge transfer mechanisms, femtosecond lasers, and femtosecond laser spectroscopy is essential.
• Excellent knowledge in the optical characterization of semiconductor materials (including nanostructures) which includes transient spectroscopy (pump-probe, time-resolved PL), and material characterizations (XRD, AFM, GIWAXS/GISAXS).

A written and oral test of the candidate’s technical competency of femtosecond lasers, photophysics concepts, and ultrafast optical spectroscopy basics will be conducted during the interview.

Qualifications

• Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) or Degree in any discipline, with Diploma in Pre-school Education-Leadership (DPL)
• At least 2 years of relevant supervisory experience in a childcare setting including infant care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership qualities with passion in equipping and inspiring young lives
• Strong knowledge in curriculum and pedagogy
