Key Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Operations

• Assist with the daily laboratory activities for teaching and research activities
• Assist the technical managers to coach researchers on the operation of equipment and in carrying out experiments in a safe and effective way

• Assist in carrying out periodic maintenance checks of equipment to ensure that they are in good working condition

2. 3D Printing and Design

• Support print jobs for research, university and school projects
• Customise and design 3D printed objects using specised software to optimise the print job and achieve requirements of the projects
• Advise PIs, researchers, students and requesters on printing capabilities and parameters of printers at the lab for research, university, school and industry projects
• Assist in any other technical request of the projects

Job Requirements:

• Minimum degree in related subjects with relevant experience in Additive Manufacturing/ 3D printing and design using CAD software (preference will be given to those with relevant experience in Institutes of Higher Learning / Additive Manufacturing environments)
• Knowledge on 3D printing and lab operations are preferred

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow (Engineer, 3D Printer Hardware Developer).

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will be responsible for completing the construction and development of multi-material micro-nano 3D printers (experimental platforms) based on new processes, and to realize the manufacture and application of parts.

• Design the mechanical structure, control system architecture scheme, CAD model slicing scheme of the new multi-material micro-nano 3D printer, and complete the construction and development of the mechanical system;
• Based on the mechanical structure of the designed multi-material micro-nano 3D printer and the required process route, the automation of the system is realized, and the coupling development of the multi-material micro-nano 3D printer machinery and control system is completed;
• Realize the successful manufacture and application exploration of multi-material composite parts with complex shapes;
• Technical write up and presentation.
