The Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) is a safety professional who has undergone stringent training in accordance with prescribed mandatory standards that govern the safety, health, wellbeing of human lives and business operative processes within a specified environment.
The WSHO shall possess fundamental knowledge of occupational safety, health and environment management and protecting such from harm and damages.
BELFOR is engaging a full time WSHO to oversee the vast aspects of our business operation ranging from its headquarter to the worksites. The WSHO is charged with responsibility to ensure its operation is in compliance and running in accordance with the prescribed standard processes.
Key Responsibilities: -
1/ Safety Risk Assessment
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards
2/ Health and Safety Training
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees on workplace safety procedure as necessary
3/ Complance and Regulatory
- Ensure the organization complies with the mandatory health and safety laws, regulatory and local authorities
- Ensure keep up-to-date with changes in the laws and safety standards
4/ Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries or any near-miss incidents and identify their root causes
- Prepare and file reports on incidents, including any corrective or preventive actions taken
5/ Safety Equipment and Hazardous Materials Management
- Ensure safety equipment, such as fire extinghuisher, first aid kits, and personal protective equipment (PPE), is available and maintained in servicable standard
6/ Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response
- Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure staff are famililar with procedures
7/ Workplace Monitoring and Health
- Support wellness program, promoting mental and physical health initiatives where applicable
8/ Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain records of safety training, audits, incident reports, and health assessments
- Maintain ISO and Bizsafe standards and ensure their validity through surveillance and annual audit cycles
Requirements
- Tertiary and/or higher institute of education from the engineering field (due to the nature of job aspects, engineering background and exposure is recommended)
- Good practical working knowledge on safety standards and its regulatory control such as OSHA
