The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within EID is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. The laboratory is also at the forefront in developing T-cell receptor (TCR) cell therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recently, the laboratory is actively involved in studying the immune responses in SARS-CoV1, SARS-CoV2 and other emerging viral diseases.

A research assistant position is available, and the successful candidate will be closely involved in the collaboration project work between hospitals/industries and the laboratory. The duties and responsibilities will include the following: -

• Perform tasks and support the team in scientific projects.
• Plan and perform the experiments, and also discuss data with project team.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Process and store clinical samples and keep a good inventory of samples required for the projects.
• Perform other duties required to support the organisation of the laboratory, including but not limited to purchasing, stock-taking, inventory and compliance with safety and ethical regulations.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences or equivalent with 1 to 2 years of experience working in a translational immunology laboratory,
• Prior experience in a T cell laboratory is preferred.
• Have experience in human samples studies, including handling and processing of clinical samples such as blood and tissue.
• Possess good tissue culture techniques and familiarity with cell isolation techniques would be advantageous.
• Have prior experience in growing and maintaining both cell lines and primary human cells in culture.
• Prior experience in performing T-cell assays such as Elispot, cell staining and flow cytometry.
• Possess good multi-colour flow cytometry skills. Able to operate flow cytometer and analyse flow cytometry data using flow cytometry analysis software such as FlowJO/Kaluza.
• A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities:

· Operate semiconductor equipment to perform processes, measurement, and inspection of wafers. (Include equipment setup, loading and unloading of wafers)

· Monitor basic equipment/process errors and perform recovery.

· Work with internal and external parties to align for tool time, execute process sequence and collect data to feedback to integration owner.

· Logistically transport wafer lots between equipment within cleanroom and between worksites.
