Assistant Cook Job description

The assistant cook will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. Work may include operating a grill, oven, or fryer. Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations

• Preparing ingredients for the shift; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc.

• Roti prataflour mixing

• Making Varieties of RotiPrata (egg prata, Bananprata, coin prata,etc.,)

• Making Varieties of Dosai (Masaladosai, Ravadosai,Plaindosai, specialdosai,Geedosai. etc.,)

• Making Chappathi and Chappathi flour mixing

• preparation of south indian& north indian curies

• Taking orders from wait staff or computerized system

• Cooking order according to food health and safety standards

• Recommending ideas for specials or seasonal dishes

• Handling multiple food orders at one time

• Monitoring multiple food orders as new orders arrive

• Dressing order for presentation

• Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides

• Delivering food order to wait staff in a timely manner

• Storing all food properly

• Sanitizing and cleaning work stations and utensils

• Reordering stock and food supplies

• Monitoring other cooks and team members

• Assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed

Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for a Assistant Restaurant Manager for our restaurant - Quay House a 45-seater restaurant. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, you will also be responsible for the Wait Staff team.

• Assist in leading the restaurant efficiently in delivering high standards as well as being responsible for the top line revenue and profit.
• Offer a professional and courteous service at all times and ensure that all employees follow through.
• Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
• To ensure that restaurant and surrounding area is kept clean and organised at all times.
• Understand the concept of the business and conduct training as requested by the Restaurant Manager.
• Perform up settling for all items offered as well as offering alternatives.
• Assist in communication with all team members and to attend daily / weekly meetings with the Culinary Team and foster teamwork to constantly develop the restaurant for more success.
• Attend and contribute to necessary staff meetings, departmental trainings and initiated trainings scheduled.
• Be knowledgeable to operate the existing POS system based on the trained responsibility level as assigned in the department.
• Assist in producing reports and analysis of the restaurant and attend in the monthly performance meeting.
• Attend all required trainings as described by the department.
• Attend daily pre-shift meetings to employees on preparation, guest profile, service and menu served.
• Report incidents that require disciplinary actions immediately to the Restaurant Manager / Founders.
• Coordinate the review of outlet’s operations manual updates annually as requested by the Restaurant Manager.
• Support activities and cooperation with the suppliers.
• Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
• Undertake reasonable tasks and secondary duties as appointed by the Co-Founders
• Handle guest enquiries and complaints in the restaurant in a courteous and efficient manner and report to Founders ensuring that the follow up is performed with the guest.
• Ensure that the opening and closing procedures established for the restaurant are followed.
• Assign responsibilities to subordinates implementing a multi-tasking principle and check their performance periodically.
