We seek candidates with expertise in design with foundations in decarbonized & planet-positive futures, warming world futures, social justice, and inclusive futures, with a particular focus on being situated in the tropical geographies of Southeast Asia and the equator. Candidate research should be manifested through a robust portfolio of creative practice outputs and substantiated through forms of peer review and public and societal engagement, with evidence of leading with anticipatory and future-forward design ideas that impact evolving society and the profession. • Design and conduct research on self-assembly methods for fabricating sponges and membranes with controlled porosity and surface chemistry
• Develop protocols for ion-selective capture and transport, focusing on optimizing materials for applications in filtration, water purification, and ion recovery
• Synthesize and characterize various materials, including polymers, hydrogels, and nanomaterials, to create functional sponges and membranes with desired selectivity
• Perform material characterization using techniques such sa SEM, TEM, FTIR, XRD, and surface area analysis to assess structural properties
• Evaluate the ion capture and transport efficiency of synthesized materials through experimental testing in simulated environments
