You will work in the Environmental Health Institute, and be a key member of the Facility & Safety Management Section, overseeing facility support and safety management across multiple locations (Biopolis,Techplace II and Van Kleef Centre). This role encompasses a wide range of infrastructure and built environment responsibilities, making it ideal for engineers looking to apply their expertise in a dynamic research setting.

• Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems, with a focus on Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV), and specialised laboratory equipment.

• Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure specialised laboratories meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify potential risks associated with laboratory operations and develop robust mitigation strategies for safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Develop and implement sustainability initiatives across facilities, integrating innovative engineering solutions to optimise building performance and energy efficiency.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics, including energy consumption and waste generation.
• Facilitate effective communication with stakeholders, including researchers, consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
• Participate in corporate projects and perform administrative tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with degrees in other engineering disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering) with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience in facility infrastructure management, particularly in specialised laboratory or research environments.
• Expertise in designing and managing ACMV systems, and other critical building systems.
• Strong background in project management, particularly in complex built environments.
• Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for specialised laboratories, including safety protocols for handling hazardous biological and chemical materials.
• Experience with Government Procurement practices, including green procurement initiatives.
• Proficiency in building management systems and CAD software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex infrastructure challenges.
• Passion for driving sustainability in scientific research environments.
• Knowledge of green building standards (e.g., Green Mark) and experience implementing energy-efficient solutions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the systems engineer will provide engineering design, technical configuration, drawing of various telecommunication systems.

He/ She will possess extensive knowledge and experience in Engineering design of telecommunication, safety & security and marine navigation systems covering technologies such as IP Infrastructure, WIFI WLAN, Firewall security, IP-PABX, PAGA, CCTV, VCS, TETRA/DMR UHF/VHF Radio, GMDSS Radio, GEO/MEO/LEO VSAT, IPTV, Radar, Gyrocompass and etc and provide engineering design, technical configuration, proof of concept as well as drawing instruction of various telecom systems.

Reponsibilites

• Take ownership of engineering design and make a truly access and understanding of client requirement and propose the right solution to fit the specs.
• Produce engineering document (VDRL) and close the client comments in a timely, high quality and accurate manner.
• Produce scratch drawing and guide the AUTOCAD drafter to come out the engineering drawing deliverables.
• Adapt the industrial standard and best practice into the engineering drawing preparation, design, review, and submission.
• Guide the in-house technician for equipment assembly and cabinet integration; implement the system configuration, simulation, testing and verification.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) to client and provide in-house training to client as well as commissioning engineer.
• Any other ad hoc tasks required for business needs.

He/ She will possess hands-on experience in testing & programming of network switch, router, WLAN controller, AP and firewall. He/ she have relevant system architect in data center infrastructure design and implementation including server (VMware), SAN storage and network.

Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for software prototyping, design, develop, test and integration of software solutions for various projects
• Perform requirement analysis, design, development, test, system integration and site integration for developed applications
• Provide technical, deployment and commissioning support to Project Teams and Customers
• Maintain and enhance software applications in both functionality
• Provide software support via on-site troubleshooting, testing and tuning of applications, software, network, protocols amd communication issues
