Role and Responsibilities

The Application Architect or Senior Application Architect will be responsible for translating vision and strategy from senior management into action and delivery in close collaboration with business users and domain architects. He/She will work closely with business, data and technology architects in translating business requirements to product features, solution architecture, develop roadmap and implementation plan that fit to the current vs. future application architecture.

• Apply deep understanding of current business, banking industry context, regulatory context, and future vision to support the development of enterprise-wide application architecture capabilities and roadmap.
• Develop application architecture from various viewpoints to support business, information, security and technology strategic analysis and decision making.
• Conduct architecture Assessment of current and target states, align architecture solution with tactical and strategic objectives and to provide recommendations.
• Define a comprehensive transitional architecture and plan to deliver positive results to the business
• Be a trusted architect adviser to the management team and give direction / guidance to the teams in solution design and implementation. Knowledge of technology trends and provide thought leadership to the business
• Presents roadmaps and architecture landscapes to senior stakeholders.
• Designs UML, ER models for application and database teams, translating application requirements into component and interface specifications
• Evaluate technologies, software, processes, development methods, and define best practices in the selection or development of the software components and hardware requirements of the applications and data
• Ensure all architecture design adhere to enterprise architectural principles - reusability, modularity, loose coupling, ease of use and security with high quality application performance, availability, scalability, and integrity
• Perform quality review of application design and deliverables, lead work sessions and present product capabilities and architecture design to business stakeholders
• Manage architecture and technology governance committee agenda for solution approvals
• Create a digital working experience for business and hold regular Technology Talks Engagements to share best of breed technologies in the market
• Lead discussions among domain architects, subject matter experts and business users.
• Provide recommendations on emerging technology to chief architect and senior management.
• Mitigate risk by following established procedures, spot key errors and demonstrate strong ethical behaviour.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Minimum of 7-8 years of related experiences in IT industry
• Bachelor's degree preferred or with equivalent experience
• Prior experience in application or solution architecture is preferred
• Experience in banking industry is preferred

Preferred Skills

• Minimum 7 years experience in application or solution architecture
• Proficiency in MS Power Platform components : Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Virtual Agents, and experience in establishing Power Platform CoE.
• Experience in developing and deploying complex scalable production application on Cloud / PaaS / SaaS platforms and containers with experience in Full-Stack web application development
• Experience in APIs / microservices best practice, framework, security, and architecture pattern with knowledge of DevSecOps, design CICD pipeline, Agile methodology and experience in design process automation using RPA, BPM.
• Experience in designing a complex application or solution architecture covering Web server, Application server, DB server, Messaging software, ESB, SOA, J2EE and .Net
• Experience in Full-Stack web application development, UI/UX, Windows/UNIX, AI applications, and Mobile App development.
• Experience in APIs / microservices best practice, framework, security and architecture patterns. Well versed in development framework such as Django, Spring, nodejs, express.js, ASP.NET.
• A strong understanding of DevSecOps, design CICD pipeline, Agile methodlogy
• Experience in cloud solution architecture e.g AWS, Azure and best practises.
• Programming knowledge and/or experience with scripting languages (JavaScript (Node.js) / Python) or expertise in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS skills or lower-level language (Java or C#)
• Experience with low code / no code software such as Microsoft PowerApps
• Experience in design process automation using RPA, BPM, etc.
• experience with different types of database technologies, and understanding of the technology landscape including open source, commercial on-premises, and cloud-based tools.

About the Team

The Contract Logistics Engineering & Automation team is responsible for diagnosis and reengineering process to work out the improvements and with innovations/automations application as necessary on Contract Logistics operations for our customers in APAC and all over the world. One of major aspects is the application of updated process through engineering and innovative technologies including but not limited to automation and robotization in both new business opportunities and existing operations.

Responsibilities

Lead Engineering & Automation projects of assigned markets to support business improvements and renewals:

• Provide leadership to Qualify, Resource and Oversee the Engineering and Automation design process of all warehousing projects in assigned team within Asia Pacific Region which includes the planning, risk assessment, data analysis, material flow, determination of optimal solution concept, detailed solution design, manage automation vendor quotation and investment analysis.
• Ownership of the Standard Work Framework for Engineering & Automation APAC, to ensure efficient engineering & automation simulation processes and aligned to the key steps and milestones represented in CLDM. Guide the EA team resources to ensure awareness and compliance.
• Be the Engineering & Automation SME for matters in relation to any focused solutioning of product(s) or relevant EA tools. Constantly diagnose process and analyze engineered improvements for warehousing activities including but not limited to inbound, storage, outbound and VAS as an end-to-end process within 4 walls operations.
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering & Automation community to ensure the templates and offerings are correctly deployed to maximize the business success through these products and specific verticals
• Promote, leverage and facilitate the replications of best engineering & automation practices across EA Network

Engineering and Automation for Continuous Improvements of the assigned customer account:

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the requirements, communicate data requirements and methodology.
• Analyze detailed data to provide processes and workflows determination, position responsibilities and system flows in conjunction with physical material flows, identify tactical recommendations
• Analyze contractual commitments, specifications, performance and other data to plan and develop logistics activities by using knowledge of industrial and/or process engineering, automation, ergonomics, business practices & requirements
• Review the current layout and perform warehouse redesign as needed taking into consideration of net impact
• Conduct time studies and workflow movement measurement analysis to determine the current productivity and cycle times, and hence review the usage of appropriate MHE in relation to product specification, operations requirement and layout where necessary
• Validate and identify appropriate storage types and methodologies, both in manual and automated solutions, including applications of appropriate Automation and technologies for processes and/storage to increase productivity and/or capacity when applicable
• Diagnose and define potential improvement opportunities and setting the productivity standards for the operations for ramp-up/ramp down scenario.
• Clearly present and demonstrate the impact of designed processes to warehouse design, technologies required, service to customer and all stakeholders.
• Drive project deliverables, presentation of results and recommendations to stakeholders
• Produce cost efficient solution and supply pertinent information to support ROI/MIRR during Investment Application and approval facilitation.
• Provide support our sites and operations with automation experiences sharing/coaching during specification, implementation and testing phases
• Define specifications and act as a counterpart to our global and regional supplier partners for automation
• Engineering:Responsible for managing and developing solution reengineering for existing customers including nominated projects/tasks from operations and contract renewals via scheduling plan
• Renewals: Trigger and engage the review of existing operations proactively to lead process and/or storage reengineering/improvements of Contract Renewals. Deploy detailed Engineering project when necessary.
• Automation: Assess the feasibility of utilizing and expanding the use of Automation, Robotics, and Technologies on applicable process or setup to improve productivity on the operations activities, but not limited to Inbound, Putaway, Picking, Packing, Outbound and VAS. Work on the projects screening and apply strategic imperatives to drive innovation & automation in key operations. Assess the feasibility of applying automation / robotization in customer projects (new and existing businesses)
• New Business: Support in new business/growth opportunities requiring Automation via technology check

Coaching & Training:

• Support to develop and conduct training programs and provide coaching in areas of industrial engineering and automation to in-country junior resource as required based on participants’ training/coaching needs
• As a member of APAC Engineering & Automation Leadership, support on the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of standardized methodologies, tools and templates
• Act as Engineering & Automation focal point for the assigned customer account
• Ensure self and team members have an Individual Development Plan (IDP) identifying personal development and alignment to business need
• Conduct regular communication to ensure team members understand the company’s objectives and goals
• Periodical evaluation of team members’ performance based on their personal growth targets

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors’ degree, in Industrial Engineering / Logistics Engineering / Automation & Mechatronics Engineering
• Postgraduate degree is an advantage

Related Experience

• Experience in modern warehouse and distribution, supply chain design (automation and other modern warehousing innovation (robotics, digitalisation) is preferred
• Minimum 8 years’ professional experience in Logistics, warehousing or 3PL industries, preferably in an international logistics service environment
• 8+ years of relevant working experience of solution design/automation/process engineering in the logistics and supply chain industry; knowledge in 3PL is a plus
• Experience in VSM and/or Six Sigma is a plus

Technical Skills

• Solid analytical skills with good commercial and technical understanding of Contract Logistics and Warehousing.
• Excellent knowledge and/or extensive experience of logistics automation methods and techniques
• Knowledge on operative IT systems/WMS and automation implementation or worked with automated logistics systems will be added advantage
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel functions – VBA/VLOOKUP/PivotTable, and PowerPoint, etc), and knowledge about other Microsoft 365 Apps including but not limited VISIO/Stream/Power BI is a plus
• Practical working experience with AutoCAD. Experience in CLASS, Sketchup and/or other supply chain design software/tools is a plus
• Good knowledge in warehouse solution design; able to develop operationally feasible solution(s) to meet customer requirements

TECHNICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

· Possess a high-level knowledge of CAD-based systems (Autodesk Architecture 2019 preferred), Revit, Microsoft Windows-based systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.); 3-D modeling experience preferred, but not required.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must proficiently serve in the following capacities throughout each architectural project:

· Will be the Project Lead in in developing design and construction documents for bidding and construction on multiple projects.

· Will lead a team of 2-3 staff members and be responsible for their productivity throughout each Project. The PM will consistently meet with team members to direct workload and review project timelines/milestones.

· Will lead the field measuring survey of existing spaces and structures and direct the junior staff accordingly to produce efficient and accurate surveys.

· Will develop design / space plans based upon the Client’s approved program requirements (assist client with programming).

· Serve as the Construction Administrator during the Construction Phase, as required. Specific responsibilities during this phase include:

· Review and approval of Shop Drawings & Submittals.

· Responding to Contractor’s Request For Information (RFI’s).

· Review of Contractor’s Payment Applications and advise Project Architect in a timely manner that said applications should be certified for payment.

· Review and Approve Change Orders, advising Project Architect that a change in construction cost has occurred.

· Prepare and Issue Construction Field Directives under the supervision of the Project Architect and/or senior management team.

· Perform Punch Lists at Substantial Completion.

· Attendance at on-site construction project meetings will be required and the Project Manager will keep accurate meeting minutes according to the firm’s standard format. The Project Manager will advise the General Contractor and the senior management team of any critical path and long lead items that will affect the project goals.

· Exhibit entrepreneurial qualities that could support business development.

· Organize and direct the architectural and/or engineering team to execute the work in an orderly, timely, and coordinated manner.

· Perform quality assurance checks on all drawings and documents related to assigned projects.

· Issue progress review sets of drawings to Project Architect/senior management team at various levels of development, according to established project milestone dates.

· Make decisions independently and/or as part of the management team, to adhere to the Design Concept, Project Budget, Project Timelines and Milestones.

· Exhibit excellent administrative and personal time management skills while having the ability to prioritize assigned tasks and delegate efficiently to maintain established project timelines and milestones. Project Manager shall advise Senior Management team of any deviations to project timelines and milestones.

· Exhibit strong multi-tasking abilities which allow performance of the above responsibilities for multiple projects simultaneously.

· Oversees training of junior staff and implementationof drafting standards, providing mentorship and assistance in solving technical related project complexities.

· Commitment to meeting project deadlines and milestones while understanding his/her role as part of the project team. The Project Manager understands that he/she must move strategically into different roles during the course of the project in order to achieve the overall project goals.

· Apply excellent research skills to insure project code compliance and to fully develop project technical specifications.

· Strong building agency experience; prepare applications, draft responses to agency objections, define alternate approaches to achieve project approvals.
