Purpose of the job

To ensure excellence in delivery of financial accounts, including financial statements, management accounts, and annual returns, by overseeing the local private clients’ accountants and coordinating with the Mauritius Private Clients accountants assisting with the preparation.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to quickly build upon accounting, tax and financial management experience, especially in the private clients’ space.

The candidate will form part of a vibrant Trust Services (Private Clients) team, that lends his/her accounting expertise to bring greater value to the private clients’ relationships.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the local Trust Services (Private Clients) team by taking ownership and responsibility over preparation and quality of the financial accounts within the team.

Managing a portfolio of clients accounts ensuring high quality service deliverables to clients, including but not limited to, review and preparation of the financial accounts where applicable.

Ensure excellence in delivery of all financial accounts of the local private clients team.

Coordinate, liaison and lead the accounting process with Group centralised accounting team (i.e. Mauritius) where applicable, towards ensuring excellence in delivery of accounts.

Review and prepare full or partial sets of accounts (monthly, quarterly and yearly) for the portfolio of clients.

Ensure accurate recording of accounting transactions and analyse financial information, to prepare meaningful management accounts and supporting schedule

Prepare tax computation and assist with tax compliance matters.

Ensure payments are processed in compliance with the client’s policies and statutory requirements.

Review and prepare financial statements under SFRS and other international GAAP where applicable

Coordinate with external parties including external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial and government authorities, where required

Establish good client relationships through positive interactions with the clients

Liaise with banker, auditors and other professional parties where required

Any other such duties that would be reasonably required for this role.

Qualifications

Accountancy Degree from reputable university and/or qualified ACCA/CA

4-5 years of relevant experience

Experience working in trust client accounting environment is preferred but not required

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong accounting knowledge

Strong and extensive experience in consolidation

Good knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, Income Tax Incentives (e.g. 13U and 13O) and relevant tax rules, procedures and guidelines.

Strong Microsoft Office skills with particular focus on Excel skills and Xero accounting software

Ability to communicate in Mandarin with Chinese-speaking clients

• Data Analytics Expertise: Experience working with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Data Translators in a banking context.
• AI Governance & Compliance: In-depth understanding of complex risk environments (regulatory, operational, and financial) and the ability to ensure product features effectively captures AI Governance requirements and MAS regulations (e.g., feature, veritas, transparency, model monitoring, fairness).
• Product Management & Stakeholder Engagement: 3- 5 years of experience
• Product Management: Proven experience in product management, including community building, user engagement, and product adoption. Successful examples of managing an AI product for analytics users in regulatory and governance context.
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to build and manage relationships with both technical development teams and Data Chapter teams across all levels, from junior analysts gathering feedback to senior leadership presenting product strategies to ED/MD for product.
• Communication & Presentation: Demonstrate strong communication skills and experience & ability to present business value metrics and deliver concise advice, both orally and in writing, to senior leaders and board-level management

• Supervise technical Superintendents during emergencies or critical situations, provide guidance on the appropriate response, and ensure effective communication and coordination among the team.
• Manage the technical aspects of our fleet, including supervising daily maintenance and repair operations, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard general assessments of vessels, inspections, and docking.
• Engage technical Superintendents in strategic discussions to leverage their insights on technical operations, fleet performance, and future challenges, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability.
• Conduct technical compliance audits and investigations on defects/failures regularly to ensure conformance with safety and operational standards.

Requirements:

• CoC Class 1 certified
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience
• Familiar with ISM/ISPS
• Able to travel on short notice.
