Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment.

In 2021, Enterprise Singapore, the national standards body for Singapore, had appointed ERI@N as a Standards Development Organisation (SDO) to develop and promote standards under the Electrical and Electronic Standards Committee. This includes standards supporting emerging areas such as renewables -offshore wind/marine & solar energy, secondary batteries and cells, solid state transformers, electrical energy storage systems, and smart grids. Standards development

These will include managing the preparations for meetings, capturing key comments, discussions and edits, conducting public consultations, addressing public comments, preparing draft standards for publications.
• Support the standards committee leaders in managing key stakeholders within the committee and industry with aim to build consensus and address standards implementation issues.
• Support participation of standards partners in international standardization including balloting, international meetings and hosting ISO/IEC TC meetings in Singapore.

Standards promotion

• Work with standards committees and EnterpriseSG to plan and execute standards promotions events targeting key stakeholders such as industry, government agencies and regulators, research bodies and the public. This could include standards launches, case studies, seminars and workshops. The PM is also expected to develop suitable presentation materials for these events.
• Work with standards committees and EnterpriseSG on verification studies to quantitatively evaluate the adoption of standards by key stakeholders.

SDO administration

• Assist Head, SDO and colleagues to manage the SDO budget to ensure budget marksmanship are met.
• Ensure procurement guidelines for EnterpriseSG and NTU are complied with.
• Assist Head, SDO in preparation of SDO progress reports to EnterpriseSG, the Singapore Standards Council and ERI@N management.
• Assist Head, SDO in audits concerning the operations and financial issues of the SDO.
