The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia’s best in Architecture/Built Environment, by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2023). The Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore invites applications for up to two Tenure track (Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor) position in urban planning and design. Successful candidates should be actively engaged with urban issues in Asia. They should have interests in developing interdisciplinary research to address pressing challenges to high-density urban environment, especially in Asia. They are strongly encouraged to develop collaborative research in the context of the newly established College of Design and Engineering as well as with industry partners and government agencies within and beyond Singapore.

Successful candidates should also have interests and experience in running urban design and/or planning studios in an interdisciplinary setting. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to deploy the studio as a testbed for questions related to pressing challenges to high-density tropical cities. Successful candidates are also expected to teach core modules related to urban planning and design, physical planning, environmental management, urban economics, and urban infrastructure.

The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Urban Planning and Design or related fields as well as requisite experience and credentials suitable for full-time appointment in NUS. They should (i) demonstrate a proven track record in, or strong potential for, research; (ii) have the ability to teach both studio and core modules of urban planning and design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (iii) for the position of professor and associate professor, have strong academic credentials, extensive experience and strong competence in academic leadership and management. Hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project’ (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical engineering or related field

Position Overview:

This individual will play a key role in driving sales and fostering strategic relationships to promote Hitachi solutions. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with a strong commercial acumen to identify opportunities, develop customer relationships, and drive business growth.

Job Duties:

• Utilize sales experience to add value to Air Compressor business offerings.
• Identify and explore new market opportunities across Southeast Asia, focusing on customers requiring compressed air solutions.
• Strengthen existing dealer networks and build relationships with Japanese-based clients in the region.
• Manage projects from initiation to successful completion, ensuring that customer requirements and timelines are met.
• Act as a liaison between the sales team and the factory, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
• Design and propose tailored system solutions based on customer needs, collaborating with business partners for downstream implementation.
• Understand and address customer requirements, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Provide Energy Audit solutions to demonstrate our product values to prospective customers, showcasing the value of our compressed air total solutions.

Key Qualifications:

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in economics or equivalent is required.
• Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in selling Air/gas transfer technology such as Compressor, Blower and/or Vacuum pumps the compressor related field, with a proven track record in technical sales and business development.
• Project Management Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and business objectives.
• System Solution Design: Demonstrated ability to propose comprehensive system solutions, based on detailed customer needs analysis and technical specifications.
• Customer Relationship Management: Strong capability in managing and nurturing client relationships by providing technical support, sharing relevant information, and offering guidance to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
• Language Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal), facilitating effective communication with Japanese-speaking clients and stakeholders.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of compressor technology and systems, with the ability to apply this expertise in practical, customer-focused solutions.
