Job Summary
Accomplish mechanical design proposal, costing and solution of automatic and semi-automatic assembly, manufacturing, and test systems. Develop new technology solutions for marketing and cost savings purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
New Inquiries
· Handles the mechanical design and costing for any new inquiries.
· Understand the specifications of the inquiries from Mechanical Engineering perspective.
· Work out a comprehensive mechanical design solution/proposal in terms of cycle time study, overall structure concept and automation mechanism.
· Communicate with vendors/suppliers for component selections and costing.
· Compile and prepare mechanical design solution and costing in Microsoft Power Point format for approval and presentation purposes.
Mechanical Design Solution
· Execute mechanical design solution on any assigned project/Products.
· Ensure mechanical design is within project Scope of Work (SOW), budget and schedule.
· Generate 3D, 2D mechanical design and Bill of Material (BOM) accurately according to the established templates and perform timely updates when there are changes/revisions or deemed necessary.
· Communicate with vendors/suppliers for component selections.
· Communicate with Electrical and Software Engineers to ensure mechanical design has accounted for the integration of electrical components and relevant software requirements.
· Involve in project meetings specially design review meetings accordingly.
· Provide necessary support to Purchasing and Production team to ensure mechanical design is executed as intended across the project milestones.
· Perform postmortem on completed mechanical design for improvement purposes.
New Developments
· Identify areas of improvement on proposal made through frequent communication with execution team during project execution phase.
· Work out subsequent solution and include in future inquiries.
· Carry out R&D with execution team/vendors/suppliers on Proof of Concept (POC) for new function.
· Explore new technology in the market in order to enhance current Innogrity’s automation system.
· Set up standards for Innogrity mechanical design construction – ERX platform.
· Set up component and cost database.
Others
· Provides direction and guidance to peers or junior engineers.
· Prepares documentation.
· Assists with training and evaluating mechanical engineering and mechanical build staff.
· Completes special projects as requested.
· Follows company and department rules and regulations especially on process workflows and using correct working templates.
· Follows safety rules and keeps the work area in clean and orderly condition.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge
Education
· Master’s degree in mechanical/Mechatronic/Automation Engineering;
· or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical/Mechatronic/Automation Engineering and at least five years of Mechanical Engineering experience in custom automation;
· or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience/Technical Knowledge
· Knowledge of SolidWorks
· Knowledge in MS Office
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports.
· Ability to write speeches, make presentations, and write articles for publication.
· Ability to apply mathematical operations (frequency distribution, test reliability and validity determination, variance analysis, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis)
· Good knowledge of electromechanical relationships of an entire automation system
Ability to perform all physical elements of the position — working at a desk, walking about the facility. Position may require occasional travel, both national and international, for machine installation.
