The gynaecological, breast pathology and cytology services have six pathologists responsible for providing a comprehensive clinical service comprising gynaecological and breast surgical pathology, frozen section cover, cytology and multidisciplinary meetings. The role of the successful candidate can be primarily clinical with a component of education or research responsibilities in accordance to the candidate’s preferences and aptitude. However, an academically-inclined candidate with a strong track record of research achievements in the fields of gynaecological or breast pathology as evidenced by outstanding peer-reviewed publications in top-tier scientific journals and a significant record of success in obtaining competitive research grants, and who is committed to furthering his/her research career, will receive prioritized consideration for this position.

The department has modern and efficient facilities including a large repertoire of immunohistochemical stains and integrated molecular diagnostics. The department receives the largest and most extensive case-mix of gynaecological specimens in Singapore. The department is an integral part of the larger SingHealth Duke-NUS Pathology Academic Clinical Programme.

Requirements

You should be a qualified and experienced medical specialist with relevant quali­fications that are registrable with the Singapore Medical Council, and have a specialist qualification in gynaecologic and/or breast pathology or have had a distinguished career as a gynaecoogical and breast pathologist that can be recognised by the Specialists Accreditation Board.

Also, you should have at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal and have competent clinical skills with the ability to make sound and independent decisions.

Job Description – Embryologist

The Embryologist is responsible for the care and handling of all oocytes, embryos, and sperm within the laboratory. This role involves preparing gametes for insemination or injection, transferring and freezing oocytes, embryos, and sperm, while ensuring a safe environment for both fresh and frozen specimens.

Key Skills

Proficiency in IVF procedures, including:

• Cryopreservation and thawing of embryos
• Embryo culture and monitoring
• Grading and scoring of eggs and embryos
• Identification, selection, maturation, and fertilization of eggs
• Insemination (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
• Selection of embryos for transfer
• Sperm analysis and washing
• Teasing and identifying testicular spermatozoa from biopsies
• Professional demeanour and ability to collaborate effectively within a coordinated team
• High degree of personal discipline in the laboratory, demonstrating consistent reproducibility in work quality
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

Requirements:

• A degree in a relevant field of science from an accredited tertiary institution.
• Availability to work on Sundays and public holidays, as well as outside regular office hours when necessary.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in laboratory settings is preferred.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Perform tasks and processes according to Embryologist skill levels and abilities.
2. Take responsibility for advanced aspects of laboratory operations and assist in training new staff as needed.
3. When trained, demonstrate the maturity and responsibility to work with minimal supervision.

Main Responsibilities

• Handle public phone enquires on medical reports requests
• Process medical report requests and follow up on medical report requests status
• Process duplication of medical records for patients
• Perform records management such as engage porter to deliver documents to patient care areas, archiving of document in e-MRO storage and tracing
• Sorting and scanning of documents into the electronic medical record system
• Perform indexing and Quality Control check (100%) on the scanned images
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and projects in the department.

Requirements

• At least a GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ levels, Professionals Certificate/NITEC.
• Experience in healthcare preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• IT literacy and numeracy including conversational, writing making electronic entries e.g. Record information on forms, charts and checklists
• Able to adapt quickly to changes and work in a fast-paced environment
