Key Responsibilities:

Activation Management

• Respond within four (4) hours notice to a disaster area to act as Response Director, managing relief operations on the ground, or in rare cases, remotely.
• Direct Activation Managers and oversee the work of their teams, including Culinary, Distribution, Community Outreach, and Procurement/Logistics. Manage multiple additional departments represented on the ground, when needed.
• Ensure strategic and streamlined implementation of relief activities on the ground, operationalizing WCK’s North Star.
• Build and train local teams to meet our human capacity needs to feed the need, embracing our accordion model.

Budgeting and Logistics

• Work with the finance team to share cost projections for activations, focusing on meal production and logistical needs. 
• Adhere to WCK’s financial policies while adapting to on-the-ground requirements. 
• Collaborate with the procurement and logistics team to source materials and supplies efficiently and ensure timely delivery to affected areas.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with local communities first.
• Ensure the teams conduct outreach and engagement activities that contribute to WCK’s reputation as an effective, compassionate, and reliable relief organization.
• Represent WCK in the field, acting as an ambassador to beneficiaries, partners, and the media, as required.

• Ability to spend up to 70% of the time in the field. The typical duration of an activation is four (4) weeks, though timelines could be longer.

The Director of Marketing & Communications, Asia Pacific works closely with and manages relations with internal key stakeholders including senior management, internal teams, donors, and external key stakeholders and partners to achieve regional goals. They may be responsible for presenting analysis and recommendations to Trustees and AP Council members.

The Director of Marketing & Communications, Asia Pacific leads communication and marketing efforts for both internal and external audiences, including integrated themes, consistent messaging, compelling campaigns, and collateral materials. Duties include:

• Designs, directs, and manages a coordinated marketing and communications strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, overseeing multiple complex and diverse programs or projects—including but not limited to strategic brand development, digital marketing, earned and social media strategy, events strategy, executive thought leadership and crisis communications.
• Collaborates with senior marketing leadership on regional and global levels to synthesize core TNC marketing initiatives for optimal performance in Asia Pacific markets.
• Drives efforts to obtain, create, store in an easily accessible and useful format, manage and disseminate content from country programs around individual project and campaign themes.
• Facilitates cooperation and collaboration, as appropriate, across the various AP teams in pursuit of marketing and communications objectives.
• Develops best practices, standardized metrics, organizational consistency, and branding continuity in communications across the region.
• Integrates effectively with the organizations central Marketing and Communications division.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

AP & Global Collaboration:

· Collaborate with TNC leaders, internal and external key stakeholders, including executive leadership and internal teams, donors, and volunteers to achieve regional goals.

· Work closely with senior marketing leadership on regional and global levels to synthesize core TNC marketing initiatives for optimal performance in the AP market.

· Provide strategic leadership in managing a decentralized but integrated marketing and communications structure across the Asia Pacific region.

· Facilitate collaboration across the various AP teams to fulfil marketing and communications objectives.

Regional Team Management:

· Manage a regional team that creates, manages, and implements key marketing initiatives and/or marketing programs designed to drive and advance marketing strategies in key public-facing markets that build awareness and engagement, influence conservation action, and achieve fund raising goals.

· Broad management responsibility for administrative, professional, and volunteer staff, including recruitment, retention, training, professional development, establishing clear directions, and setting “stretch” objectives.

· Ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, develop talent, manage performance, and help with conflict resolution on a large multi-disciplinary team.

Program Management:

· Design, direct, and manage multiple complex and diverse programs or projects including strategic brand development, digital marketing, earned and social media strategy, events strategy, executive thought leadership and crisis communications.

· Manage the budget and operational delivery of program or initiative goals and strategies ensuring program accountability.

· Define key results and appropriate targets to measure marketing and communications effectiveness and communicate results to stakeholders. Exercise leadership in strategic and tactical matters, work with fellow leaders to establish and evaluate policies and/or long-term programs.

Best Practice & Information Management:

· Drive efforts to obtain, create, store in an easily accessible and useful format, manage and disseminate content from country programs around individual project and campaign themes.

· Develop best practices, standardized metrics, organizational consistency, and branding continuity in communications across the AP region.

Internal & External Communications:

· Lead internal and external communications, themes, messaging, campaign materials, collateral materials.

· Develop business case analysis support for marketing spends/projects outside of budget spends.

· Execute and optimize brand level campaigns, marketing, and communications across all relevant online and offline channels (owned, earned, paid, third party).

· Build unprecedented marketing, communications, and brand awareness locally and regionally through partnership and innovation.

Compliance & Confidentiality

· Ensure functional program meets commitments and is managed for ethical compliance with TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements.

· Maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally charged information.

What You’ll Bring:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination, including at least 3 years’ experience at a senior management level.

· Experience leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team or complex program.

· Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and/or external marketing contacts.

· Experience fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth.

· Experience in program management, including broad financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.

· Experience designing, directing, and implementing multiple projects.

· Excellent writing, presentation, communication, mediation, and negotiation skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s degree or extensive professional experience.

· The ideal candidate will have experience in navigating and leading within matrixed, multi-functional teams, collaborating across a complex organizational structure to meet regional and global objectives.

· Experience working in and for the Asia Pacific region and has a keen interest in its rich culture, economic trends, and conservation needs.

· Ability to stay knowledgeable of current and evolving trends in marketing and communications.

· Experience in building strong interpersonal relationships, with a good ability to engage and influence a diverse group of co-workers and stakeholders across multiple locations and time zones.

· Experience in building and maintaining long-term relationships with partners, vendors, board members, and senior leaders both internal and external.

· Experience in developing, implementing, measuring, and evaluating multifaceted strategic marketing initiatives, plans, and programs.

· Experience in managing a geographically dispersed team, with extensive management experience including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance, and help with conflict resolution on a large multi-disciplinary team.

· Experience of utilizing best practices in non-profit management.

· Experience in managing the fiduciary aspects of planning and delivery of annual budgets.

· Multi-lingual skills advantageous.
