Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Platform Admin Lead to manage the data platform admin team for the smooth business operations and supporting the hybrid data platform with primary focus on big data platform, data visualisation tool, ETL tool and data science tool.
Job Description
· Lead the team to manage data platforms to meet the organization's needs. Take overall accountability of the administration and operation of data platforms.
· Configure and administer data platforms including security, performance, and scalability.
· Create and manage user accounts and permissions, as well as manage access to data sources in data platforms.
· Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance and resolve any issues that arise.
· Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and maintenance for data platforms.
· Develop and implement backup strategies for data platforms.
· Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the data platform infrastructure integrates with other systems and platforms.
· Create and maintain documentation for data platform SOPs.
· Support the integration of data platforms to the ecosystems.
· Perform POCs of new capability in data platforms.
· Aligning with the systems engineering team to propose and deploy new hardware and software environments required for data platforms and to expand existing environments.
· Responsible for working closely with the database team, network team, BI team and application teams to make sure that all the big data applications are highly available (24x7) and performing as expected.
· Responsible for capacity planning and estimating the requirements for lowering or increasing the capacity of the platforms.
· Monitor (24x7) server performance, connectivity and security.
· File system management and monitoring.
· Diligently teaming with the infrastructure, network, database, application and business intelligence teams to guarantee high data quality and availability.
· Collaboration with application teams to install operating system and updates, patches, version upgrades when required.
· Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
· Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
· Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
Our Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
· Overall 15+ years of experience in platform implementation and administration with mandatory 8 + years of hands-on experience in managing big data platforms
· Deep understanding of OS concepts, process management and resource scheduling.
· Deep understanding of networking, CPU, memory and storage.
· Good hold of shell scripting.
· High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
· Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
