Team Introduction

The Platform Product Management team is under TikTok Trust and Safety. Their goal is to keep the platform running smoothly and to guarantee user safety. The purpose of Risk and Response is to mitigate and lessen escalation. We collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and improve product capability, features, and tool ability to detect risks at an earlier stage, monitor possible online risks, and respond to any emergency risk trends in a speedier manner.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the design of data products, including data monitoring, data analysis, data insight, and algorithm-related platforms;

- Work closely with the business team to develop a deep understanding of the business and provide the business with insights, recommendations, and solutions from the data perspective and analysis;

- Participate in the operation and maintenance of data products, promote product landing, continuously gather feedback from users, and keep tracking product adoption and performance;

- With strong data sensitivity, collect and analyze feedback from users, stakeholders, and other teams to shape and optimizing products and drive continuous improvement of user experience;

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree or above, 5+ years of data product management or related experience; Preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree; Data products, data analysis, data development working experience is preferred;

- Familiarity with data platforms, including but not limited to data visualization, metric management, feature management, algorithm engineering, portrait analysis, analysis and diagnosis, permission platform, etc.;

- Proven entire experience in planning, design, execution, and launch of successful data products;

- Data-driven and have a good sense of data; Excellent data analysis skills and strong understanding of data, data platforms, and related technologies;

- Self-motivated, practical, honest, and good at cooperation; problem-solving aptitude, the ability of excellent workload management, and willingness to accept challenges;

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, detail oriented and receptive to feedback.

We're looking for a leader in our Data Engineering team to work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Software Engineers to support product launches and roadmaps by building the data architecture that informs and drives insights. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactively drive the vision for BI and Data Warehousing across a product vertical, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
• Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.
• Build a high-quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale.
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, User Experience Researchers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
• Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical.
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
• Manage the development of data resources and support new product launches.
• Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
• Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production.
• Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.
• Development experience in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Perl, Java, etc.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects.
• Project management experience.
• Experience scaling and managing 3+ person teams.
• 6+ years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing.
• Experience in SQL.

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical fields.

Get to know the Role

This is a hands-on role involving building large-scale simulation platforms and reinforcement algorithms. You will have the opportunity to build a digital twin of Grab’s marketplace that consists of tens of thousands of consumers, drivers and merchants. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to develop reinforcement learning, optimization and control models to solve business problems inside Grab’s marketplace and deploy them at scale.

The ideal candidate will have solid understanding of software development life-cycle and engineering practices, experience developing production ML systems, experience working on a range of regression/classification and optimization problems, experience applying reinforcement learning (or control theory), experience working with real-time streaming data.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• Architect and develop our simulation platform to simulate the response from the real marketplace that involves different types of services that Grab is providing
• Collaborate with product analysts, managers and business teams to define, prototype and build simulation SDKs to facilitate users to run simulations under different scenarios
• Architect and develop reinforcement learning frameworks to train and run reinforcement learning algorithms at scale, provide efficient optimization solutions to challenging business problems such as pricing, demand and supply management.
• Collaborate with data science and economists teams to solve difficult causality and behavior modeling problems for building more efficient simulation and reinforcement learning algorithms
• Engage in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, costing, tuning and optimization.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards.
  
  The Must-Haves
• A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related fields
• 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: general machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning (control)
• Solid understanding of engineering practices and design patterns, experience in writing readable, maintainable and testable code
• Familiarity working with VCS such as git, git-flow, understanding of full software development life-cycle
• Experience turning business problems into ML/AI-projects
• Experience with any ML framework, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
