The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is the research division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), with a vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region. With approximately fifty staff, CCRS’ mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community.

Within CCRS, the Department of Weather Research (DWR) is responsible for research and development supporting CCRS’ core ‘seamless’ ‘SINGV’ modelling system, used in both Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and regional climate projection applications e.g. Singapore’s ‘V3’ 3rd National Climate Study launched in January 2024. DWR also oversees research in AI-based rainfall nowcasting, forecast verification, the transition to operations of NWP science upgrades, and the development of customised products to support MSS weather services and other stakeholders. DWR works closely with CCRS’ High Performance Computing Branch, local universities and has bilateral research partnerships with several major international weather/climate organisations including the UK Met Office, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, and US National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Job Description

Data Management (80%)

• Create and maintain SAP master data for grants and funds (e.g. fund, cost centre, WBS) for entities timely upon request from stakeholders.
• Check supporting documents provided to ensure information contained is complete and in accordance with the overall data schema.
• Liaise with stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies.
• Perform closing of project codes timely as per SOP, and any re-opening as required to facilitate operations.
• Perform regular checks on newly created master data, flag exceptions for follow-up and resolution.
• Ensure documentations are well organised and maintained

Management Reporting (20%)

• Support the maintenance of data visualisation dashboard that runs on Tableau platform.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy in system and performing regular checks
• Process and maintain user access , coordinate and conduct regular training, manage queries and feedback
• Prepare monthly management reports to supporting entities
• Other ad-hoc tasks as required

Job Requirements

• Qualifications in Accountancy or Finance with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience is advantageous
• Good command of MS Office application
• Great attention to detail and accuracy for data creation
• Meticulous, organised and possess good communication skills is a must
• Experience in SQL & PowerBI is very advantageous

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

- Final year or recent graduate with a background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

- Familiar with many open source frameworks in the field of big data, e.g.Hadoop, Hive,Flink, FlinkSQL,Spark, Kafka, HBase, Redis, RocksDB, ElasticSearch etc.

- Familiar with Java, C ++ and other programming languages

- Strong coding and trouble shooting ability

Preferred Qualification:

- Agile, quick self learner, highly self-motivated with strong sense of product ownership and creative problem solver.

- Good collaborator and team player, comfortable working in a fast moving, culturally diverse and globally distributed team environment.
