Key Responsibilities:

• Administrative support for various NRF grants

Overview

The Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) is a young research center with a vision is to become an international leader in Science of Learning in Education research. Overview

We are looking for people with a strong background in Computation & data infrastructure and/or building data systems. They must be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders and functional teams including Students, Faculty, IT and External Collaborators. Responsibilities

INFRASTUCTURE MANAGEMENT (50%):
• Maintain servers, including file , web , proxy servers, including security patches.
• Allocation of compute / storage resources as needed.
• Analyse institute infrastructure needs to implement for services providing improvements to systems.
• Management of the Institute Website.
• Liaise with Global IT teams to ensure compliance to their policies and be a single point of contact for the institute for troubleshooting.
• Manage recording and streaming systems during regular seminars / Conferences and workshops.

DATA ENGINEERING (25%):
• Support research teams with advice on efficient Data Engineering practices including automation of data pipelines, data cleansing, integrity checks etc.
• Develop processes to handle remote data access / management in compliance with security best practices (and appropriate policies)
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.

SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT (25%):
• Create APIs for integrate data source into functional blocks of software & services.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering with more than 3 years relevant experience
• Experience in maintaining virtualised server infrastructure and creative problem solving within large IT infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of statistical analysis, data mining or machine learning
• Practical experience in working with large structured and unstructured data set
• Ability to think analytically and deliver results that drive business decision making

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant / Research Associate in the Sleep and Health Laboratory, Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Research at the Sleep and Health Laboratory focuses on the importance of sleep in cognitive, brain, mental, and physical health. Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant / Research Associate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator, collaborators, and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the various studies on time. The Research Assistant / Research Associate’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as IRB application, participant recruitment, data collection and analyses, as well as manuscript and report writing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant / Research Associate will need to:

1. oversee the general management of studies;
2. provide administrative and secretarial support to studies, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other research teams at the Centre for Sleep and Cognition;
3. undertake the day to day running of the various studies, e.g. recruitment, data collection in the laboratory and at participants’ homes;
4. process and analyse data;
5. assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the studies;
6. maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
7. assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. have a first degree with good results (Research Assistant position) or holds a Master’s degree (Research Associate position) in Psychology or related disciplines; preferably with some experience in research;
2. be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail;
3. be able to use SPSS / SAS / R / Matlab; good command of E-prime and Python would be an advantage; and
4. preferably have experience in EEG / polysomnography.
