1. Conduct baseline assessments of students’ English language proficiency upon entry.
2. Monitor progress through formative assessments and adapt instruction accordingly.
3. Re-assess students at the end of each term to evaluate progress and inform future instruction.
4. Provide detailed reports to parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.

Collaboration and Support

1. Work closely with classroom teachers to provide targeted language support for EAL students across different subject areas.
2. Develop resources and strategies to assist mainstream teachers in differentiating their lessons for EAL learners.
3. Engage with parents to ensure they are informed of their child’s progress and provide suggestions for supporting language development at home.

Professional Development

1. Stay current with research and best practices in EAL teaching, including the use of WIDA standards.
2. Participate in school-based professional development programs, contributing to the wider school community.
3. Work with school leadership to continually refine and improve the EAL program.

Additional Duties

1. Attend school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other events as required.
2. Contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school as needed.

End-of-Term Re-assessment and Reporting

• At the end of each term, conduct a comprehensive reassessment of each EAL student's progress, both in terms of language acquisition and academic integration.
• Provide written reports to parents detailing progress, challenges, and areas for development, as well as recommendations for continued support.

Minimum Qualifications

• A degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification, preferably with a specialization in EAL or ESL (e.g., CELTA, DELTA, PGCE).
• Experience teaching EAL or ESL to primary or secondary students, ideally within an international school setting.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum is preferred.
• Experience with WIDA standards and assessments is a significant advantage.
• Proven track record of supporting diverse learners and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Working with children between the ages of 2.5 to 12 years old
• Teaching pre-reading, reading and comprehensive skills to children using the company's system
• Lesson preparation and marking
• Participating in teacher and curriculum meetings on a weekly basis
• Maintaining regular open communication with parents
• Conducting ad hoc replacement lessons and one-to-one lessons

Requirements:

• Degree-level qualifications, preferably in Teaching/ Education/ Early Childhood/ Studies / English/ English Literature or Linguistics
• Diploma-level qualifications must be in a relevant field such as Teaching/ Education/ Early Childhood Studies/ English Language/ English Literature or Linguistics
• Preferably at least two years of related teaching experience, or similar
• An enthusiasm for teaching young children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willing to teach on weekends and weekday evenings
