You will champion best financial practices as it relates to analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and spend for all aspects of the Food at our client unit.
To support our growth, we’re looking for an experienced and talented Head of Finance for Asia Pacific to join our Regional team in Singapore. The prospect will have the opportunity to immerse in real-world accounting and financial practices, and develop a deep understanding of financial processes that contribute directly to the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and operations.
Responsibilities of the Role
Working closely with the Regional Finance Director APAC as well as the other Regional and Country Leadership Team members, you will have overall responsibility for the accounting, finance, reporting, compliance and governance activities for the region (Singapore, India, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong & New Zealand)
● Financial Planning
○ Supporting the yearly Budgeting process, Annual Planning, Forecasting, CAPEX and OPEX Cost projections ensuring appropriate assumptions are applied
○ Conducting regular rolling forecasts to understand projected spend against budget
● Financial Reporting
○ Ensuring accurate and timely reporting to multiple stakeholders. This would include reviewing financial data prior to submission
○ Supporting the financial presentations during monthly reviews
● Invoicing
○ Ensuring that invoices are raised and submitted on time and in accordance with the Scope of Work meeting submission deadlines to ensure timely payment
○ Verifying accuracy or revenue and spend in preparation prior to submission of invoices
● Risk Management
○ Identifying and escalating in a timely manner risks that could impact achieving the financial targets
○ Regularly reviewing changes to the business, assessing possible outcomes and putting in place measures to ensure any financial risk is mitigated
● Financial Analysis
○ Conducting in-depth financial analysis on a regular basis to provide meaningful insights during internal and external reviews.
○ Understanding what is driving differences between actuals vs forecast, deep diving where required and taking appropriate corrective actions / measures if required
● Compliance and Governance
○ Driving a culture of strong controls and good business practises
○ Ensure all accounting practises are in line with accounting standards
○ Reviewing and / or developing policies as part of continuously improving governance and compliance within the business
● Coaching & Mentoring
○ Supporting a diverse team of finance managers to work together with a view of becoming a high performing team where the strengths of the team members can be leveraged across the region
● Relationship Management
○ Building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
○ Comfortable working in a highly matrix organisation
● Year End Reporting, KPIs, Audits
○ Leading the Year End reporting process ensuring timely submission of documents (Internal Audit Statement, Balance Sheet Provision Balances etc)
○ Working with the teams to be prepared for KPI reviews during the course of the financial year
○ Supporting countries during the audit process by reviewing financial data prior to submission, attending calls with the auditors and ensuring any corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner
● Ad-hoc Projects
○ Supporting the teams on specific projects as and when required
Experience & Expertise:
● A Bachelors or Master degree in Accounting / Finance
● CPA, ACCA, CA qualifications
● Strong technical knowledge of accounting and financial principles and complex transactions
● Must have strong financial modelling skills
● Knowledge in SAP, ARIBA, Anaplan would be preferred
● At least 10 years of work experience in a managerial capacity having some years of experience working in a Multinational company,
● Audit (Big 4) experience would be an added advantage as would exposure to working with remote teams / regional teams
● Critical thinking and analytical skills;
● Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
● Organised and able to prioritise and multi-task;
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in using G-Suite of products would be an advantage
● A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The Person
We are looking for a dynamic individual who has a mature disposition with strong financial and accounting experience. A problem solver who can digest complex information and is comfortable working in a fast paced environment having to work on multiple projects / deadlines at the same time. Excellent communication skills is a key requirement to the success of this role. You will be required to travel for this role on a regular basis.
