Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handle and process full spectrum of Trade Finance transactions (Import /Export LC, Collection, Commodity Trade Finance, Invoice Financing, Trade Loans, BG, SBLC issuance).
• Review the LC workability and matching of terms and conditions for Back-to-Back LC issuance.
• Perform document checking independently for Import and Export as per LC terms and adhered to UCP rules and International Standard Banking Practices.
• Handle all settlements /preparation of all payments, disbursement of proceeds independently (MT103 /MT202)
• Perform TBML screening, identifying irregularities and red flags shown in documents for further escalation and approval.
• Monitor and follow through all trade finance related transactions from end to end.
• Ensure all transactions and tasks assigned are carried out are in accordance with the operating and compliance procedures.
• Ensure smooth processing day-to-day trade finance transactions within the stipulated Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Ensure daily funds reporting are accurate and timely to Treasury.
• Investigate on unreconciled transactions
• To participate in launching of new trade finance products, prepare and participate in UAT activities for system implementation/enhancement/migration activities.
• Liaise and collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders, including IT, Corporate Banking Department, Legal and Compliance Department, Risk and Control Department, Treasury to ensure smooth facilitation of transaction.
• To review P&P annually and to involve in process improvement where applicable.
• Ensure any others assigned operations duties by supervisor are duly performed.
• To back up other team such as remittance and Corporate Banking Loans operations in case of needs.

Requirements:

• Relevant experience handling trade finance operations within the banking industry.
• Familiar with Structure Trade and/or Commodity Trade Financing, BG and SBLC issuance.
• Possess good trade finance knowledge. CDCS qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Willingness to learn Deposit, Corporate Banking Loans and remittance will be preferred.
• Proficient in both English and Mandarin language to liaise with internal and external Chinese stakeholders.

• Manage a team to analyze business requirements and visualize data, identifying trends and insights that drive informed business decisions.
• Integrate analytical findings into business operations by collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution.
• Develop and implement data processing models, presenting clear, actionable outcomes that support operational efficiency and compensation strategies.

• Design, automate, and maintain essential dashboards for business units, providing real-time insights to support key business functions.
• Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring data validation is completed accurately and in accordance with business rules and timelines.
• Serve as the Finance Operations representative for systems and tools related to compensation, including system migrations, database changes, and data structure modifications.

Requirements

• Experience in various data analytics tools eg Alteryx, Anaplan, Python, Power BI, SQL, Qlik etc
• Familiarity with database, cloud, and various FP&A tools

Job Purpose

Job Responsibilities

• To carry out marketing activities for trade finance products (LC/ guarantee issuance, LC confirmation / discounting, ARP, SCF, milestone basis mid-term trade solutions, structured trade, and ECA finance). Incumbent is expected to develop relationship with customers (non Japanese corporate clients, SG local companies and Global subsidiries in SG).
• Responsible for marketing from origination, structuring, negotiation, documentation to deal execution for corporate clients. Managing workflow with team members from GTFD, other departments including but not limited to Coverage, Legal, Credit, Operations for successful deal management.
• To demonstrate SMBC’s best practice by following internal rule & procedure, relevant regulations and compliance matters (understanding on mission statement & 5 values, related HQ policies, procedure manual, pre-consultation process, etc).
• Prior experience in handling trade financing products, solutions for commodity and trader segment(s) preferable.
• Report progress on pipeline deals and updates on marketing activities, support Head of Working Capital in business and reporting activities.. Act as back-up for colleagues in the team during compliance leave or other periods as agreed with GTFD management.

Reporting to Director of Finance, you shall ensure the overall effective financial management, planning and reporting for the Group to support business growth locally and globally. Your Profile

You should possess a university degree in Accountancy or Business Administration, with at least 15 years of experience in controllership and financial planning, including prior audit experience, preferably in similar or related industries. Experience with SGX reporting and familiarity with SGX regulations in a small to mid-cap company are compulsory. Regional finance exposure and experience in dealing/managing overseas finance teams are advantageous. Professional accounting qualification such as CA/CPA is a plus.
