Our client, a leading quality food provider and wholesaler, is looking for suitable talents to join their growing business as Assistant Procurement Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to achieve preferential engagement with the company in the form of best pricing, priority stock allocation, market intel and opportunities for special deals, new products and marketing support ahead of other Singapore buyers.
- Facilitate collaboration with suppliers for innovation in buying programs or product development that provide opportunities for greater competitive advantage through pricing, product availability or new product innovation.
Pricing Negotiation
- Negotiate aggressively but fairly to ensure best cost price to the company at all times.
- Develop below-the-line commercial terms in the form of payment discounts, growth incentives, marketing rebates, sales achievement rebates, volume discounts and other financial benefits that provide value to the business.
Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate and complete weekly/monthly forecasts for processors that ensure supply to the company is prioritized and pricing competitiveness over-indexes on current volumes.
- Monitor inventory levels daily to optimize replenishment planning and identify slow moving lines.
- Ensure slow moving stock is cleared well before expiry date, to minimize obsolescence and write-off.
- Work closely with Inventory team to ensure space capacity and inventory planning are aligned with incoming shipments prior to stock ordering.
- Plan and execute stock replenishment by way of purchase orders.
Category Management
- Analyze market and consumption trends, the competitive landscape, supply-chain movements and processor/production volumes to identify opportunities and threats within the category.
- Maintain understanding of the price drivers affecting pricing per product SKU into Singapore and its impact on buy/hold/clear position that the company needs to take.
- Develop and implement category strategies to achieve business objectives and goals that support market and sales team opportunities for growth
- Work closely with the sales and business development teams curate a product assortment within the category, considering factors like product supply continuity, quality, pricing, and consumer demand.
- Identify new products/suppliers that fulfil range gaps whether due to changing supplier circumstances or new growth opportunities.
- Monitor and manage the performance of products to continually identify poor performing lines for delisting and identify new product opportunities that will enhance the product range offer.
- Ensure that all products meet relevant importation regulations and food safety standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in Business, Supply Chain or any relevant disciplines
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing, preferably within the food industry.
- Possess strong negotiation, analytical, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in market analysis and inventory management.

- Working hours: Monday to Friday, Office Hours
- Salary: Salary will commensurate according to experience & qualifications.
