Implement application development strategy

• Align application architecture priorities with longer term roadmaps for the technology landscape.
• Advise the creation of security standards from application development perspective.
• Provides guidance and advice on the use of software design strategies and methods.

Identify requirements

• Identify alternatives where multiple solutions to requirements exist.

Implement applications

• Oversee the integration of applications with back-end services.

Optimise applications

• Review application performance and provide recommendations to improve application services.

Maintain applications

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline.

• Candidates should have several years of experience in release engineering that spans both software development and system administration. Candidates should have proven experience of working efficiently in a cross functional team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect with expertise in OutSystems to join our team on a significant project. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical architecture for an enterprise-grade OutSystems application, ensuring stability, scalability, and alignment with best practices. The Technical Architect will work closely with the Project Manager and Solution Architect to deliver a robust, reliable solution tailored to the project’s requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Design: Design and oversee the technical architecture for OutSystems applications, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Platform Installation and Configuration: Implement OutSystems installations on both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring optimal configuration and performance.

Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Manager to align technical deliverables with project milestones and ensure timely delivery.

Collaboration: Partner with the Solution Architect to maintain the integrity of the solution design and support architectural decisions.

Version Upgrades: Lead at least one full platform version upgrade, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal impact on operations.

Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 5 years working with OutSystems, with a strong focus on technical architecture, version upgrades, and migrations. Not just a developer—must have in-depth OutSystems architecture experience.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive experience with OutSystems architecture, including installations in both on-premises and cloud environments.

• Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working on projects or in the public sector is preferred.
• Certifications: Certification in OutSystems is an advantage.

Main Responsibilities

Build and Change Management

• Able to lead in terms of technology and conceptualize, propose design and architectural evolution, along with operational model.

Qualifications and Profile

The successful candidate will definitely have:

• At least 10 years of software development experience
• At least 8 years’ experience working with Java
• Strong knowledge and experience on various design patterns and design principles
• Strong understanding and well experienced with recent Java language features, such as lambdas, streams, and futures
• Strong understanding and well experienced with Spring framework
• Strong understanding and well experienced with APIs development and security design
• Strong understanding and well experienced with SQL
• Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures, with strong fundamentals in complexity analysis
• Strong ability to analyze code – understand execution flow & debug even without access to a debugger
• Experience with Maven, Git, writing and maintaining integration tests
• Experience in cloud native architecture (Micro services).

An ideal candidate will also have expertise in some or all of the following:

Responsibilities

• Configure, build, and test the application or technology architecture components and classes.
• Work with other developers, designers, and architects to make sure that the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
• Follow agreed security coding practices to ensure the application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Perform unit testing, and where applicable, create automated unit test functionality and use them as part of a continuous integration development process.
• Document the code during development to ensure maintainability.
