The research team will primarily use ethnographic and interview methods in the research, combining these with a small-scale survey, GPS tracking and GIS visualisations for analyses.

The project team consists of Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Elaine Ho (Department of Geography), Co-PI Associate Professor Vincent Chua (Department of Sociology and Anthropology) and Collaborator A/P Feng Chen-Chieh (Department of Geography).

Scope and responsibilities

The RA will provide administrative support to the Principal Investigator for large grant management and liaise with the project team members or external parties on such matters. There will be opportunities to be involved in empirical research and/or data analyses that are central to the project.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to hold at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or an equivalent honours degree, or a Master’s degree in the Social Sciences.

• Willingness to learn about and work with researchers using mixed methods; prior experience of working with mixed methods will be an advantage
• Excellent writing and strong communication skills in English, including an ability to present research in both academic and non-academic venues
• Curiosity and passion to explore new concepts, methods and technologies, and capable of identifying and quickly learning the most suitable tools for the research on the go
• A good team player and the ability to multitask effectively
• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge and core Microsoft Office skills

Job Description

· Assists the residents in their daily needs including bathing, serving meals etc

· Assists the residents to maintain good hygiene including regular shower, nails/hair cutting, change of clothes, bedsheets, etc according to schedule

· Participates and facilitate in both on and off-site activities with the residents

· Support therapists/ psychologist with interventions for residents

· Accompanies residents for medical appointments

· Maintains cleanliness and tidiness of resident’s environment

· Assists in cleaning and maintenance of general areas

· Maintain accurate documentation of care given

· Provide training/ guidance to residents with daily living skills (e.g. sweep floor, clean tables etc)

· Responsible for data collection of residents’ progress

Job Specifications

· Minimum of WPLN Level 3 above, GCE O Level/ NITEC, preferably in Nursing

· Candidate with supervisory skills will be of advantage

· Experience in direct handling of youths / adults (age 19 & above) with autism will be an advantage

· Experience in residential /special needs settings will be advantageous.

· PC literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications

• Running of banking errands.
• Collection and delivery of good, documents, cheques and cash to office premises, shipyards, onboard vessel and other location within Singapore.
• Ensure proper and safe handling of goods, cash, cheques and documents with due dilegence.
• To be responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles under your care.
• To arrange for the vehicles regular servicing and repair when necessary.
• To observe all traffic rules and regulations (you shall be fully responsible for any traffic offence and penalty incurred) and observe road safety.
• To perform logistics duties when required, such as stock take and other light duties.
