The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore is looking to employ two full-time pathologists with subspecialty interests in gynaecological pathology, breast pathology, cytology or any combination of the aforementioned areas. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore is seeking a full-time paediatric pathologist. The position is available for a flexible period of three to four years; this may therefore suit an individual who has recently retired, or who wishes to gain a period of international exposure working in a vibrant city-state in Asia.

The successful candidate will have medical and specialist pathology qualifications registrable with the Singapore Medical Council (www.healthprofessionals.gov.sg/smc/becoming-a-registereddoctor).

Subspecialty competence in paediatric pathology, such as evidenced by the completion of a paediatric pathology fellowship or a distinguished academic career as a paediatric pathologist, is required. A deep sense of collegiality, inter-disciplinary collaboration, and commitment to the responsibilities of the discipline of paediatric pathology in a public academic healthcare setting is expected. Subspecialty interest or expertise in one or more of the following areas will be beneficial but is not mandatory – liver pathology, cardiac pathology, developmental neuropathology, haematolymphoid pathology, perinatal autopsy pathology.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an adjunct or regular academic appointment at Duke-NUS Medical School at the assistant, associate or full professor rank. The paediatric pathology service has three pathologists responsible for providing a comprehensive paediatric pathology clinical service (comprising paediatric surgical pathology, placental pathology, and perinatal autopsy pathology) in addition to teaching, administrative and research responsibilities. The role of the successful candidate is envisioned to be primarily clinical but with a component of education or research responsibilities in accordance with the candidate’s preferences and aptitude.

The department has modern facilities including integrated molecular diagnostics. There is close collaboration with the clinical services and regular multidisciplinary team meetings. Opportunities exist for participation in funded research, test development in molecular diagnostics, as well as regional education and outreach initiatives. The department is an integral part of the larger SingHealth Duke-NUS Pathology Academic Clinical Programme.

Job Description

• Perform front desk duties - attend to phone calls and emails, answer enquiries, perform registration and schedule patient appointments
• Perform billing duties
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Assist with coordination of patient care such as investigations and medical reports
• Assist the doctor during patient consultation / examination at the clinic, when required
• Prepare and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor
• Check stock of medications and other supplies
• Perform other administrative duties in the clinic as may be assigned
