The role

Conduct relevant activities, undertake project management, and provide advice for service delivery within own area of expertise, ensuring adherence to budget constraints and contractual requirements.

Produce deliverables in accordance with agreed schedules, budgets, and quality levels, utilizing appropriate formats. Take responsibility for reviewing and monitoring the work of other employees as requested.

Discuss and present deliverables to internal and external clients, offering suggestions and solutions as necessary.

Perform activities in alignment with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.

Pursue Continuous Professional Development to maintain a high level of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.

Assess or recommend the time and value of work for external clients, assisting in identifying the most suitable fee and cost structure.

Mentor and coach other employees as appropriate, promoting effective knowledge transfer and application.

Ensure that the necessary authorizations are obtained and kept up to date, which may involve Activity Monitoring.

Undertake routine administration tasks as required, following current processes and procedures.

Collaborate closely with the site Project Manager, delivering project requirements promptly. Maintaining the confidentiality of all project specifications and deliverables is essential; no sharing outside the organization is permitted.

What you bring

The ideal candidate should possess a degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in the relevant field of engineering (Marine/Mechanical) or physical science (minimum of two years program) recognized by Lloyd's Register.

Alternatively, qualifications from a marine or nautical institution along with relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer.

Experience in Class surveys with LNG Survey authorizations would be an added advantage.

Membership in an appropriate professional institution.

Working towards or having achieved chartered or incorporated engineering status.

Commitment to working in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics as outlined in IMS01.

Ability to utilize a combination of general and specialized engineering knowledge and understanding to apply both existing and emerging technologies.

Proficiency in applying suitable theoretical and practical methods to analyze and provide solutions to engineering problems.

Capability to provide technical and commercial management, such as project management and process management.

Proficiency in the English language at a level commensurate with the work requirements.#

• Oversees the daily operation of rooms cleaning as well as turndown operation from room assignment to assignment handover.

• Works hand on hand with Royal Service Manager for a flawless handling of Lost and Found. Manages physical inventory of Lost and Found item following SOP.
• Participates in, daily and periodic departmental communication meetings and training sessions with all levels of colleagues. Assists DOHK with post minutes and keeping training records.
• Makes sure established par stocks for room linen, uniforms, guest loan items and guest supplies are on-hand and controls consumption. In control of daily, weekly, monthly inventories and reports any discrepancies to the Executive Housekeeper.
• Liaises with outside contractors pertinent to information issued by the department head, appraises the quality and reliability of their contribution and makes recommendation for or against renewal of contracts.
• Assists DOHK to prepare financial analysis, departmental reports and budgets, design worksheets, documents and master lists as directed.

Job Capsule

Provide guidance and oversight of classification, certification, and statutory survey work within the Region/ Worldwide. Responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of the survey work within the Region/ Worldwide and verifying compliance with the applicable ABS and statutory requirements as appropriate.

Job Duties/Roles

1. Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles and processes.

2. Stays up-to-date with ABS Rules, Guides, and Statutory requirements.

3. Develops guidance and training for survey staff on implementation and application of ABS Rules, Guides, and Statutory requirements.

4. Makes survey-related presentations to the Surveyors within the region on a regular basis.

5. Provides oversight through activity monitoring of ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System. Provides input to the regional (Senior) Vice President on survey manpower requirements including quality, quantity, experience, training, and professionalism of Surveyors within the region.

6. Responsible for maintaining the organization, staffing, training and day-to-day operations of the Assistant Chief Surveyor’s office in order to carry out assigned functions. Makes changes to organization, staffing, and budgets, as conditions warrant, with the approval of the regional (Senior) Vice President.

7. Appraises the performance and development potential of direct subordinates and recommends appropriate compensation adjustments.

8. Serves as a member of the regional Quality Steering Committee and Management Review Board.

9. Provides input for survey-related Rule changes.

10. Attends Regional Technical Committees, as necessary, and assist in presentations of survey-related matters.

11. May assist region marketing effort at trade shows and other occasions, as directed by the regional (Senior) Vice President.

12. May make survey-related presentations at trade seminars and Technical Societies, as directed by the regional (Senior) Vice President.

13. May attend meetings of IMO, IACS, TSCF, and other bodies, as directed by the Vice President/Chief Surveyor and/or regional (Senior) Vice President and/or Corporate Executive Vice President and COO.

14. Provides guidance to ABS clients by means of meetings and/or seminars on changes to ABS Rules and Regulatory requirements.

15. Provides input on budgets and business planning when requested by the regional (Senior) Vice President.

16. Keep Vice President/Chief Surveyor and regional (Senior) Vice President advised of major survey-related problems in the region. Provide other input and data as requested by the Vice President/Chief Surveyor

17. Responsible for maintaining the port state control database of detained and/or intervened ABS classed vessels in the region. Liaise with the MOU Regimes, as necessary regarding ABS classed vessels that have been detained by the Port State Authorities.

18. Serves as a member of the Regional Safety Committee.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)

1. Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

2. Ability to read engineering plans and have a basic understanding of shipbuilding practices and vessel operations.

Minimum years of Experience

1. Minimum three (3) years’ experience working as Principal Surveyor or Lead Surveyor.

2. An exceptional Comprehensive understanding of ABS strategic technical positioning in their respective sector of the marine industry.

3. International assignment or significant exposure to international processes, requirements, business issues and problem resolution.
