The Centre for Clinician-Scientist+ Development (CCS+D) supports the research pillar of academic medicine in SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC by nurturing aspiring and talented clinicians with passion and interest in research, including clinician scientists, clinician investigators and clinician innovators. The Centre provides support at the developmental stage of their research career, through personalised consultations and structured training geared towards improving research and leadership skills.

CCS+D is inviting applications from experienced faculty experts and medical researchers who can nurture SingHealth clinicians with passion and interests in research and innovation. The responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: -

• Provide grantsmanship advisory & consultations with clinicians to improve their chances of success in obtaining research grant funding. General discussions with clinicians would involve their research themes, research hypothesis formulation, types of grant funding targeted and strategies to achieve their research/innovation career goals.
• Detailed grantsmanship guidance for clinicians’ grant applications which include the following aspects:

1. Evaluating the importance of the research questions
2. Evaluating the feasibility of the study designs and research plans
3. Improving the storytelling and organization of writing to ensure well-flowing content
4. Training clinician researchers in presentation skills
5. Providing advice regarding research methodologies and statistical analysis plans
6. Supervising rebuttals to grant reviewers’ comments
7. Supervising interview preparation including mock interviews

• Provide individualised research career advisory to aspiring clinician-researchers in collaboration with the Centre’s Director and principal lead faculty members.
• Serve as a speaker at research workshops or seminars organised by the Centre
• Be part of the internal grant review committee to assess the suitability of pilot research studies for funding.
• Teaching research methodologies to clinicians and medical students. Although this is not a primary role of this position, teaching tasks may be required from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Recognised medical or PhD Degree.
• Has excellent track record of research accomplishments - demonstrated by having a high number of publications, multiple national grants achieved and experience serving on national grant review panels.
• Dedicated in nurturing aspiring clinicians for promoting academic medicine and research.
• Self-motivated and proactive in guiding and supervising clinicians to frame competitive translational and clinical research, to forge the pathways from bench discoveries to bedside applications. (Note: Developing independent research work is not a requirement for this role)
• Able to work with clinicians across different disciplines on research proposal writing for research topics based on general medical knowledge but not specific expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in handling day to day deliverables, weekly sales landing, monthly analysis & periodic forecasts exercises
• Assist in downloading, collecting, compiling, verifying information to provide controller with accurate and timely information for decision-making.
• Work with Client’s Business Services team to ensure accurate month end closing and follow up on clarifications.
• Drive & manage Capital expenditure (CapEx) reporting processes as well as collaborate with relevant teams for APAC CapEx projects.

Requirement:

The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for Assistant/Associate-level Professorship at the Centre for Translational MR Research (TMR) in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This is a tenure-track position with 12-month salary 100% paid by the university.

The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM) is a leading research institution in the world, being ranked in the top 20 worldwide and holds the top position in Asia (QS ranking). Established in 1905 to educate and train medical professionals for Singapore, YLLSOM hosts more than 40 departments in the basic sciences and clinical specialties, as well as faculty research centres and Translational Research Programmes covering a full spectrum of medical specialties.

If hired, the Professor will be part of the Centre for Translational MR Research (TMR), which offers state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) capacity for both clinical and translational research. TMR is staffed with trained personnel to support research in imaging and image analysis, spanning from basic science to clinical trials. The Professor is expected to lead an independent research program and make significant contributions to one of the following research areas including, but not limited to:

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) acquisition, preprocessing and analysis
• Multi-modal and multi-body imaging (especially cardiac, neuro and metabolic areas)
• Machine learning of brain and body MRI

The Professor can be affiliated with the Department of Medicine, Department for Diagnostic Radiology, Departments of Pharmacology or Department of Physiology within the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and work closely with Centre for Sleep and Cognition and Clinical Imaging Research Centre (with MR-PET facilities). Joint appoint with College of Design and Engineering, NUS, is also possible. He/ She will have access to a network of basic and clinician scientists to collaborate with to support research studies.

The Professor will have access to 2 research-dedicated 3T MRI scanners, EEG/eye tracker, digital wearables, and high-performance computing infrastructure. Pay scales are similar to those in the United States. Start-up package will also be internationally attractive.
