Purpose of the post

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the ongoing development and organise BISI’s research programme to support its strategic direction and mission.

Fabrica AI is reinventing how robots are developed. Currently novel robots take 5-20 years. We are building a design automation platform to bring it down to a month, and have already demonstrated significant progress by developing tile grouting robots in record time. Robotics simulation and reinforcement learning has been advancing a lot making it 1000x cheaper to train robots compared to 5 years ago, and as Jensen Huang said at Nvidia GTC 2024, "the ChatGPT moment for robotics may be just around the corner." A couple other companies are building on the same paradigm shift but we are the only ones using it to automate hardware design, not just software.

Building robots and a design automation platform together brings great synergy - the platform helps us develop robots faster than anyone else and the robots allow us to gather data and do experiments at scale. Data gathering can be done through partnerships with other robotics companies, but doing experiments is crucial for grounding the platform in reality and ensuring its usefulness. The grouting robots are already deploying daily at construction sites and bringing value to clients. We are currently negotiating sales worth around 500k USD. With manufacturing cost multiple times lower than companies using a traditional robotic arm, our robots have an ROI in weeks. Our robot is also small and simple to use, operating from a single button without the need to upload floorplans or do any complex setup. Soon we would be expanding into other simple and valuable robots for the construction industry.

Support in strengthening the department’s international network of research collaborators. Provide expert advice in identifying new trends, innovations, priorities and strategies in research. Provide quality training to educate the next generation of surgical specialists. Aspire to pioneer and lead research & development of new surgical devices and services. The Visiting Professor will collaborate with PI(s) and support the department’s research mission and focus. He/she will be able to:

1. Contribute to the broad research programme of the NUHS/NUS Department of Surgery (both existing and eventually new projects).
2. Attend NUCeT research meeting. To review ongoing projects and publication progress.
3. Discuss weekly case/tutorials for postgraduate education
4. GS Residents focused clinical teaching
5. Journal club and topic review facilitation
6. TEA Session discussion to cluster trauma stakeholders
7. Initiate and develop trauma tissue biobanking for Trauma multi-organ failure study
8. Initiate and develop Singapore-UK Trauma quality improvement registry and comparision
9. Aid in development of national trauma coagulopathy study on use of Factor Concentrates
10. Be plenary speaker at National Trauma Injury Prevention Symposium
11. Be Grand Round speaker on trauma systems
12. Be advisor to SCDF on AI-enabled trauma pre-hospital response

Qualifications

The applicant should:

• possess a relevant doctoral degree which is widely recognised internationally
• possess a diverse and deep experience in research; a strong track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals
• be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; and
• competent in MS Office, PowerPoint, have good knowledge of data science/statistical software e.g. SPSS, R, STATA,etc is preferred

DxD Hub QA/Lab Operations Team is seeking candidate to join the team to build capabilities needed for lab operation in medical device organization.

You will join the QA and Lab Operations team to implement QMS requirement and laboratory safety protocols in the management of equipment, facilities and inventory within the product development laboratory.

You will be trained in the following areas:

Competency in ISO 13485:2016

• Understanding concept of ISO 13485:2016 standard and the impact of the requirements on lab operations.
• Management of Change.
• Management of deviation and nonconformity.
• CAPA and root cause analysis.

Workplace Safety, Health and Environment

• Application of safe work procedures in work activities.
• Workplace safety incident investigation.
• Proper classification, handling, storage and disposal of lab chemicals including toxic, corrosive, flammable chemicals.
• Proper handling, storage and disposal of biological materials.
• Emergency response.

Facility Management

• Regulatory requirement for lab operations.
• Regulatory guideline for waste management.

Equipment Maintenance

• Understand the purpose of equipment calibration.
• Understand concept of accuracy and tolerance in calibration results.

Equipment Qualification

• Understand the principles of equipment qualification.
• Writing qualification protocol and report.
• Execute basic installation and operations qualification protocols.

You will support the QA and lab operations team in the following:

• Receiving and inspection of material and equipment.
• Equipment qualification: develop qualification protocol/report, plan for qualification activities.
• Support in maintenance of lab facility compliant to ISO 13485 and regulatory requirement.
• Review/drafting of SOP.
• Participate in audit.
• Record NCR and conduct CAPA process.
• Participate in lab improvement project.
• Cross division activities on adhoc basis.
