Accounts Officer

Responsibilities

• Review of reconciliation reports for Banks, AP, intercompany and other balance sheet accounts.
• Handling the bank payments.
• Responsible for timely and accurate accounting close.
• Preparation of monthly reports and other analysis reports.
• Providing finance advice and proactive support to the management and business operations.
• Drafting of financial statements / tax computation.
• Liaison with auditor / tax consultant / company sectary for statutory reporting.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in accounting/finance/banking, and/or professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CA, CPA)
• 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong interest in finance industry developments, especially surrounding regulatory and technical updates (e.g. IFRS, tax developments, domestic regulatory developments)
• Experience in financial services or fintech will be a plus
• Proficient in MS Excel - lookups, pivot tables, conditional formulas
• Self-driven, meticulous, organized, team player
• Willingness to adapt, be versatile, and take on tasks outside of pre-defined job scope to solve problems
• Good English and Chinese written and verbal communication skills, reading and conversational skills will be an advantage

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Voucher Preparation & Review:
  • Prepare and review accounting vouchers for various financial transactions.
  • Ensure that vouchers comply with company policies and accounting standards.
• Weekly Payment Preparation:
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to ensure proper payment documentation.
• Daily Cash Flow Monitoring:

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following experience, knowledge and skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, preferably in the insurance / reinsurance / financial services industry

Job description

The successful applicant will:

• Implement a comprehensive Compliance Management System to manage compliance risks for the Company. This includes promoting a culture of compliance across the organisation, carrying out compliance risk analysis, providing staff training, performing compliance monitoring activities and preparing compliance reports for local and ERGO Group management.
• Provide compliance advisory to management having regard for legal requirements, regulations and ERGO Group’s policies and guidelines.
• Monitor changes in insurance regulations and other legislative developments which could impact the Company and provide advice to management to implement necessary changes.
• Implement robust policies and procedures and monitoring activities for data protection, Anti-Money Laundering / Countering of Financing of Terrorism, and sanction screening to ensure adherence to regulatory and Group requirements. Undertake the role of Data Protection Officer.
• Manage and assist with investigations such as complaint investigations and market conduct investigations.
• Act as the point of contact in regulatory liaison matters and handle requests from regulators.

• Support and contribute towards the overall growth in the ILP funds business in AIA Singapore.

Education:

Position Responsibilities

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing regulatory advice in relation to a broad range of compliance matters across all aspects of Partners Capital’s Asia Pacific based entities in Singapore and Hong Kong and ensuring the efficient running of the APAC compliance function. The individual will report to the General Counsel and Global Head of Compliance (based in London), and provide additional regulatory support on global compliance matters, as required.

Duties include:

• The ongoing development and implementation of the firm’s APAC compliance programme, including monitoring and ongoing enhancement of the control framework.
• Providing compliance advice and support to the APAC business, with respect to a broad range of regulatory matters and related risks.
• Monitor and analyse regulatory developments, conducting gap analyses and ensuring timely implementation of new policies and procedures.
• Manage all correspondence with the MAS, SFC and ASIC, including ensuring the timely submission of all required regulatory reporting.
• Develop, recommend and implement risk-based controls to ensure business compliance with relevant industry regulations and best practices.
• Co-ordinate with outsourced internal auditor and/or external compliance reviewer to manage the annual regulatory review programmes in Singapore and Hong Kong.
• Support the development and implementation of the firm’s compliance training program to inform and educate business units and senior management on all relevant compliance matters.

• Managing onboarding controls from an AML/CFT perspective for all new clients and overseeing the periodic review process for existing clients.

Candidate Profile:

• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Compliance or related functions, preferably within a similar financial institution, legal, professional services or consulting firm.
• Detailed understanding of the laws, regulations and industry best practice in relation to a Singapore fund management entity / capital markets services license holder.
• Experience in relation to an SFC-licensed financial institution would be advantageous.
• Highly-motivated self-starter, able to work independently as well as collaborating as part of a global team.
