Job Purpose

Supports the Process Automation team (On-site) to work on the design, project execution and commissioning of process systems in the biopharmaceutical industry. This position requires experience relating to Pharmaceutical and/or Biotech. This position will require candidate with leadership skill to lead/ mentor junior engineers, equipment vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance into the design, project management, commissioning and start-up of automation systems, for upgrades, renovations and expansions of client facilities and processes.

• Experience with, and knowledge of some of the typical Biotechnology processes & peripheral systems is required; Upstream Biotech Processes (Fermentation, Bioreactors, Centrifugation, Thawing), Downstream/ Purification Biotech Processes (chromatography, TFF, DF, NF-MF), Fill & Finish equipment, Media Preparation, CIP/SIP systems, Buffer Preparation, clean utilities (PW, WFI, CS, PS)
• Facilitate project management tools throughout the execution of projects, such as procurement tracking, vendor management, meeting minutes/ action lists, risk register log, schedule updates, project updates.
• Coordinate meetings with cross-functional departments, to drive project progress, facilitate decisions, provide updates.
• Travel may be occasionally required for meetings with clients, equipment fabrication vendors or Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs).
• Work may require occasional support over shutdowns or extended hours, specifically during installation and commissioning / validation phases.
• Client-management (maintain key Client relationships in support of business development and pursuit of new work), project scheduling/budgeting, coordination of client and MMR resources for effective project delivery, supporting business development (providing technical support to the sales as required for proposals/opportunities), presenting at industry conferences/publishing papers etc.
• Visit construction and installation sites.
• Required to comply with the safety rules including mandatory vaccination policies for COVID-19, where applicable.
• Supervise contractors during critical installations of process equipment and associated duties.
• Other duties as assigned, based on workload and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and spoken English is required including the preparation of technical documents in English.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements for working in pharma/biotech facilities, with a Basic understanding of SOPs, Validation, Change Controls.
• Detailed knowledge of GAMP and its application to large- and small-scale systems.
• Detailed knowledge of data integrity requirements.
• At least 10 years of experience in pharma process automation engineering experience, with at least 8 years’ experience respectively in process controls with DCS / SCADA / Historians with upstream or downstream bioprocesses.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, PLC code, DCS code.
• Ability to perform programming/configuration of Emerson DeltaV DCS, Siemens PCS7 etc.
• Possess leadership skills, and be able to take initiative to lead projects, involving multiple stakeholders, departments, and varying complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is inviting applications for a Manager / Assistant Senior Manager in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to provide support to the GIS Unit and its GIS educational programmes. The GIS Unit spearheads the research, training and applications of GIS in the Department and aims to extend beyond the academic realm to foster an Asia-focused GIS ecosystem with global reach. Project Overview

We are seeking one or more graduate research interns (ideally full time students currently pursuing a PhD degree) in computer science to join the “Towards an Immersive Workplace” project. This project is part of Task “T1” of a five-year, ambitious research program on "Mens, Manus and Machina—How AI Empowers People, Institutions and Cities in Singapore (M3S)."

Successful applicants for this position will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research that builds new capabilities for AI-enhanced human-robot interaction, with a special focus on supporting efficient and collaborative spatial/3D sensing and comprehension in industrial environments, such as airport tarmacs and logistics warehouses. The end goal is to build exciting new capabilities that allow robots and humans to work together, interactively and in close proximity, with the spatial sensing helping agents embedded in robots understand and situate human instructions, queries and commands, issued naturally in untethered, field settings.

The research intern, working part-time (10-16 hours per week) will be specifically involved in the development of new, energy-efficient and reliable spatial sensing technologies, such as LIDAR (3D). The goal is to allow teams of humans and robots, working in close proximity in a common physical environment, to achieve appropriate spatial awareness. The research will focus on addressing challenges such as (i) interference between multiple LIDAR sensors, when operating in a shared physical environment, (ii) optimized sharing of LIDAR-sensed point cloud data among collaborating peers, and (iii) resource-efficient augmentation of LIDAR sensing via use of additional cheaper sensors (e.g., RGB and thermal cameras). These techqniues will progressively be combined with additional research, being developed in complementary efforts within the overall T1 project, that tackles topics such as non-obtrusive human attention capture and efficient multi-modal DNN comprehension for human instructions, to support more accurate understanding of human instructions and preferences, whether explicit or implicit.

The T1 team is led by distinguished scholars, including Profs. Sanjay Sarma, Daniela Rus and Jinhua Zhang from MIT; and Prof. Archan Misra from Singapore Management University. The proposed research described above will be spearheaded by Prof. Misra.
