Job Summary:
We are seeking to employ suitably qualified and experienced Senior Academic Support staff to join dedicated teams of professionals in the Arts Faculty.
The appointee is to support the Senior School Music Department’s extensive Music curriculum, extra- curricular and performance schedule. The role will require excellent piano accompanying skills and strong ensemble and composition/arranging skills. The role will require accompanying ensembles and leading and developing performance opportunities for students within the Senior School. The role will require arranging and sequencing music for a wide range of ensembles and groups and promoting an inclusive musical environment where students are encouraged to take risks and enjoy performing for each other.
The appointee will also support Music staff in curriculum lessons for an average of 14 hours per week, ranging from ages 11-18 years old. The appointee will be responsible for organising and promoting the annual ‘Battle of the Bands’ with support from the Music Department and lead some agreed Music Co-Curriculum Activities. The Department currently organises around 20 musical events running throughout the School Year.
The appointee reports to Head of Faculty – Arts through Assistant Head of Faculty (Music) and Music Specialist.
Requirements:
- Minimum diploma qualification, major in Arts or Music
- Excellent piano skills with strong ensemble and arranging skills
- Previous experience of supporting learning in music, or a professional or educational background in arts, is an added advantage
- Excellent English, interpersonal, organisation, and communication skills
- Able to adapt to different students of a range of ages and to different teaching styles
- Sound Microsoft Office knowledge; proficient computer usage
- Ability to work independently and as a positive team player
- Enthusiasm for working with students and teachers
- Approachability, flexibility, and maturity
Working Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm depending on daily music activities with a 45-minute lunch/rest break. There is a requirement to work and support at music events which may take place in the evening or weekends as part of the school Calendar of Events and agreed at the start of the Academic Year. Any overtime or additional hours worked beyond contractual hours will be paid or granted in accordance with the policy/guidelines stipulated in the Staff Handbook.
