• A minimum of 3 - 5 years, classroom based teaching experience, preferably in international schools (4-11 year olds).
• Experience teaching students who are English Language Learners
• Experience of a concept based curriculum would be advantageous.
• A committed and creative practitioner, you will be reflect on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative practice to raise achievement.
• A passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
• The ability to engage with students and to engender enthusiasm for learning is a prerequisite for teaching at UWCSEA.
• A willingness to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, enthusiastic participation in and delivery of Professional Learning is expected. Evidence of regular and recent professional learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and spoken. The language of the workplace and the language of instruction is English.
• A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.

• Concept-based teaching and learning - a desire to engage children in concept-based learning, where they develop big ideas both specific to subject areas and transcending them.
• Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop approach
• Reggio Emilia inspired, child centred, play based approaches
• Creating agentic learning environments and opportunities
• Honesty, integrity, compassion

Leadership (for the right candidate)

• Teacher leadership and/or coaching experience in the Primary Years.
• Up to date with current research in Primary pedagogies, agency and concept-based teaching and learning.
• Experience leading and supporting teachers’ professional development.
