Job Description
Join our dynamic Wise Platform team as a Risk Lead, where you will manage our onboarding and compliance operations for enterprise businesses and banks partnering with Wise. This position offers the unique opportunity to influence Wise’s mission, enhance KYC and compliance leadership, and establish partnerships that facilitate instant, borderless money for more people.
Your primary mission will be to lead a regional team of analysts responsible for onboarding banks and enterprise partners, assessing their compliance policies, and producing comprehensive compliance memos to determine partner risk. Additionally, you will lead monitoring analysts that review partners regularly to ensure Wise maintains effective oversight of their operations. You will own and manage the risk for our platform partners in your region.
Job Responsibilities
Partner Risk Management:
- Continuously improve our onboarding and monitoring procedures to enable your team to be effective in managing partner risk
- Own decision making regarding partners based on their compliance reviews that summarise findings and determine partner risk; your assessment should be data-drive and align partners with Wise’s risk tolerance and regulatory requirements
- You manage our monitoring process, ensuring that the team effectively tracks partners' compliance operations, and surfaces any concerns or red flags to be actioned
- You will apply decisions on the acceptable risk for partners in the region based on Wise’s risk tolerance; you will ensure that risk is identified, managed and communicated effectively internally and to partners externally
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work across departments to ensure that banks and enterprise partners in your region are onboarded to the platform in a timely manner and have a best-in-class experience doing so
- Educate cross functional teams (particularly commercial) about partner risk, supporting them in making decisions when our thresholds are met
- You take calculated risks, and are able to provide defensible arguments to support your decision. Support your team do the same when onboarding or monitoring partners in the long-term
Leadership and People Development:
- Take a leading role in managing the risk analysts for Wise Platform, working with the team members to grow their impact
- Measure team performance and KPIs, plan capacity to ensure performance targets and quality standards are met while maintaining focus on the partner experience
- Maintain high standards throughout the entire employee lifecycle, including recruiting, performance reviews, 360-degree feedback, and off-boarding. Effectively manage low performance while fostering high talent density and high-performing individuals and teams.
Things that might describe you
- Experienced in compliance risk management within Financial Services; a plus if you have previous experience in Correspondent Banking.
- Skilled in investigation and business notation, specializing in evaluating risk assessments and compliance documentation, able to make decisions based on these
- Proven track record of managing high-performing compliance or risk teams in fast-paced environments
- Demonstrated capability in strong stakeholder management and resilience, with the ability to effectively navigate complex organizational dynamics
- Excellent internal and partner communication skills, with a knack for presentation and persuasion to align teams and drive decisions
- Proficiency with data, able to meet KPIs and SLAs and keep their team accountable for meeting these goals consistently
- Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing regulations and data for strategic decision-making
- You can build an environment where your team is incentivised to make decisions and apply risk-based approach to their work
- Passionate about customer and partner success, with a proactive approach to managing compliance and risk
