Main Responsibilities

–Report to the Operations Manager

– Check the schedule on a regular basis for arrival times and changes in them

– Gather and transport all supplies needed for the set up of a function including but not limited, silver, china, linen, skirts, glassware, condiments etc.

– Set up buffet tables according to One Paradise and function requirements with a creative flair.

– Properly set all tables, side stations and the back of the house areas for functions according to service standards

– Report any incident to immediate superior and followed up with the events report

– Assist in the placement of any food items in a function room for a display or a buffet and the ability to serve from buffet line

– Serve, prepare the proper mise-en-place for any function

– Serve all food and beverage function according to the standards set forth by One Paradise

– Attentive to the needs of all the guests in the function room providing them with dependable, punctual and enthusiastic service

– Ensure all tables and the function room is clean and neat prior to leaving for the shift

– Ensure all food and beverage items to return the kitchen or to the Supervisor of the Function

– Ensure all condiments including salt, pepper, sugar, flowers, skirts, and candelabra go back to store

– Service all functions including plated, buffet, silver- served or VIP meals, coffee breaks, benefits, theme parties, weddings, receptions, outside catering etc.

– Respond properly in any emergency or safety situation.

– Adhere to company’s standard operating procedures

The Department of History at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a tenure-track position, beginning in August 2025, at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD degree in History, and have a strong research agenda rooted in World History, with no preference for regions. Candidates should have an international profile commensurate with their rank and stage of career. The Department is particularly interested in applicants with research interests and accomplishments in one or more of the following subfields: gender; science, technology, and society; environment; the ancient world; and international relations. A demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to teaching Introduction to World History as well as more specialized courses for broad undergraduate audiences in the College of the Humanities and Sciences and the Department’s M.A. students. Successful hires are generally accorded, upon application, a start-up grant and thereafter have access to research grants from the Singapore government and other funding institutions. A competitive remuneration package, based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate, will be offered. The teaching load is 2-1 (totalling three per academic year).
