CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

• Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
• Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

Job Description

The Senior Research Fellow will be a core member of the Institute for Environment and Sustainability’s research team. Research tasks include working on the Center for Water Policy’s cutting-edge work on urban water policy and governance, as well as our burgeoning Center on Climate and Energy. The candidate will lead policy-relevant research projects, take responsibility for project and grant management, and contribute to stakeholder liaison and outreach of the Institute. We are especially looking for candidates who hold a high level of policy research competence in Applied Economics, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Environmental Science or in a related field. In particular, candidates should have demonstrable interest, work, and/or research experience on the policy and governance aspects of water, climate and energy. All candidates should have a strong willingness to contribute to IES’s mission and to engage with new topics and research tools.

Job Responsibilites

• Design, implement and lead research projects under IES’s various research programmes
• Prepare high quality research papers on topics related to IES’s core research themes suitable for publication in high-tier academic journals
• Contribute to grant and institute-level reporting requirements and funding proposals/applications
• Provide support for IES’s events and outreach activities

Job Requirements

• PhD in Applied Economics, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Environmental Science or in a related field.
• Excellent analytical skills with knowledge of:
  - big data analytics, economics, econometrics, laboratory/field experiments, game theory and/or agent-based modelling
  - anticipatory policy design and practice, including path dependency analysis
• Applied social science experience, including independently designing, conducting surveys and analysing its data
• Preference for those with good and relevant publication records / working papers
• Excellent verbal and written English
• Good time management skills and ability to multi-task effectively

Your Role

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Your daily schedule will include frequent interactions with a multi-disciplinary team, across teams from design to manufacturing to operations. You will need to work in Singapore. Remote work is not an option.

Your Job Scope

• Manufacturing Plan: Coordinate with engineering and production departments to develop and implement Manufacturing Plan for products, by drafting work instructions & test plans, preparing BOMs, communicating to suppliers and training manufacturing personnel.
• Technical Support and Diagnosis: Technical support and troubleshooting of production issues related to equipment, processes, quality, controls, and systems. Identify defects or deviations from quality standards and perform root cause analysis to determine the underlying reasons for these issues
• Quality: Upkeep work quality on the manufacturing floor, by implementing quality control procedures such as: comprehensive incoming and outgoing quality inspections, compliance to work instructions, and implementing corrective actions on any lapses
• Record-keeping: Maintain detailed records of quality tests, inspections, and audits. Generating reports on quality performance and communicating quality issues to relevant stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas of improvement from assembly procedures to tooling, to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and reduce defects
• Training: Provide training to staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure that quality requirements are consistently met
• Supplier Quality Management: Collaborating with suppliers to ensure that raw materials and components meet quality specifications and standards.
• Compliance with Regulations: Ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations, standards, and best practices to meet legal requirements and customer expectations.
• Provide day-to-day technical and engineering support to the operating areas.

Desired Qualities

• (MUST) Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Computer or equivalent Engineering
• 3-6 years of experience in quality engineering or in manufacturing
• Working knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes
• Experience with quality control and test procedures for tests such as in EMI-EMC, Vibration, temperature, humidity testing is a plus.
• Experience with Altium designer and other equivalent PCB CAD software.
• Experience with any 2D schematic, wire harnessing and cable assembly design software.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to multi-task and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
