Purpose

The incumbent will be responsible for the case management of residential boys.

Responsibilities

• Case management and counselling of boys admitted under Child Protection Orders, Probation Orders, Family Guidance Orders MSF-referred cases and Compassionate Ground cases.
• Carry out admission procedures for boys admitted to Boys’ Town, which includes handling intake interviews and liaising with stakeholders working with the boys prior to admission.
• Conduct assessment of identified needs through assessment tools such as Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) and Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI).
• Conduct sessions for the residents of Boys’ Town and their parents/caregivers according to their identified needs.

Job Purpose:

The psychologist is expected to provide a full range of evidence-based and best practices in psychological services to students including conduct psychological assessments, deliver interventions and manage crisis situations. You are also function as a member of the allied professional team to collaborate with stakeholders, maintain professional and ethical standards, undertake research and continuous improvement and uplift professional practice of psychology in education.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Psychological Assessment for (i) school admission, (ii) programme placement, (iii) identification of socio-emotional and behavioural needs, (iv) progress monitoring, (v) mental capacity for assisted deputyship application programme.
• Conduct vocational profiling and facilitate the combination of report meeting
• Conduct admission screening to ensure fitted school placement
• Select and administer screening and assessment tools (e.g. BASC, mood disorder checklist)
• Select and administer standardised psychological assessment for mental capacity assessment
• Prepare assessment resources and protocol for mental capacity assessments so as to contextualise to the needs of the student
• Prepare assessment report including scoring and interpretation
• Make recommendation and conclusion based on assessment results
• Guide junior psychologist in psychological assessments including selection, test administration, and report writing
2. Provide Psychological Interventions for students referred for socio-emotional and behavioural needs.
• Conduct individual intervention
• Conduct group intervention
• Guide junior psychologist in case conceptualisation, treatment planning and progress monitoring
• Lead in the design and crafting of group intervention
3. Manage Crisis
• Recognise signs and symptoms of distress
• Provide crisis intervention
• Administer suicide risk assessment
• Make recommendation for follow-up actions after the crisis
• Guide junior psychologist in crisis intervention including recognising signs and symptoms of distress, soft-skills to de-escalate students in distress, and conduct risk assessment

4. Provide training to stakeholders
• Conduct training for stakeholders (e.g. employer education, staff induction)
• Conduct specialised training (e.g. CARE Kit training, Understanding self-harm behaviour)
• Lead in the design and customisation of training to meet needs of stakeholders
• Collect and collate of data to measure training effectiveness
• Evaluate and review effectiveness of training design to ensure overall training objectives are met
5. Perform Clinical Supervision
• Provide guidance to junior staff on assessment, case intervention so as to adhere to both organisational and psychological guidelines
6. Leadership
• Provide thought leadership in the design of the various portfolios in psychology discipline
• Provide ongoing guidance to junior psychologist or intern in their key responsibilities and functions
7. Administrative duties
• Digitization of reports

• Assist in preparing and submitting Key Review Area (KRA) and targets to AP Manager
• Carry out other administrative duties assigned by AP Manager

Job Requirements:

• Possess a Masters in Applied Psychology/ Clinical Psychology from an accredited university and be registered/eligible for registration with SRP or an equivalent professional body.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of work related experience with relevant exposure in the area of intellectual disability or other related disabilities.
• Expertise and familiarity in conducting and interpreting psychological assessment
• Proficient in a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions
• Skilled in crisis intervention and management
• Ability to provide training to stakeholders

• Minimum 3 years working experience with young child with neurodevelopmental and diverse needs in an early intervention setting
• Knowledge of AEPS would be an advantage

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership in Curriculum Development

• Design, plan, and implement individualized curriculum, lesson plans, and IEPs for all students, ensuring alignment with academic and developmental goals.
• Deliver tailored lessons while overseeing the effective execution of the curriculum by all teachers to maintain consistency in quality and approach.
• Proactively oversee curriculum mapping and differentiation, ensuring lessons meet the diverse needs of all students.

2. Programme Evaluation and Development

• Manage the enrolment and internal assessment processes for all students, ensuring timeliness and comprehensiveness.
• Utilize assessment data to inform curriculum planning and interventions, proactively aligning lesson plans with students' academic, social, and developmental goals.

3. Behavioral and Social-Emotional Interventions

• Lead the planning and implementation of social, emotional, and behavioral interventions, ensuring they are tailored to individual learning objectives.
• Provide ongoing behavioral support strategies and guidance to teachers on effectively managing student behavior.

4. Mentorship and Teacher Development

• Mentor teachers and assistant teachers in curriculum execution, lesson delivery, classroom management, and behavioral interventions.
• Lead regular in-house training sessions to enhance instructional quality and ensure the consistent application of evidence-based practices.

5. Classroom Management

• Oversee classroom management to create a supportive and engaging environment for all students.
• Proactively guide teachers on behavior documentation, reporting, and intervention strategies while monitoring overall classroom dynamics.

6. Collaboration and Transdisciplinary Approach

• Facilitate regular meetings with the Early Intervention Team, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), parents, and external stakeholders (preschools) to coordinate interventions for all students and ensure a transdisciplinary approach.
• Organize center events, outdoor learning opportunities, and lead caregiver training sessions to empower caregivers in supporting home-based learning.

7. Operational Support

• Share responsibilities in sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management of classroom resources, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, including regular health checks and incident reporting.
• Provide class coverage and additional support to teachers as needed to maintain smooth instruction and classroom dynamics.

8. Student Recordkeeping

• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, assessments, and interventions, ensuring timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.
