I) Job Purpose:

The Food Processing Worker is responsible for various tasks in the food manufacturing process. These tasks include preparing raw materials, operating machines, monitoring production, ensuring quality control, packaging finished products, and maintaining cleanliness, safety and quality standards in the production area.

II) Roles & Responsibilities:

• Preparation of Raw Materials: Prepare and handle raw food ingredients by washing, sorting, cutting, and measuring ingredients according to production specifications / instructions from the production supervisor.
• Operating Machines: Operate food processing equipment, such as cutters, grinders, saw machine, and etc. And to adjust equipment settings as necessary to ensure product consistency and quality.
• Quality Control: Inspect food products for quality, including checking for defects, weight, and packaging integrity. Report any deviations from quality standards.
• Packaging and Labelling: Package finished food products according to packaging specifications, ensuring products are labelled correctly and comply with regulatory standards.
• Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness in the work area by regularly cleaning machines, equipment, and production floors to meet hygiene and safety regulations.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and practices to ensure a safe working environment, including proper handling of tools, machinery, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Inventory Management: Assist in tracking raw materials and finished products, reporting inventory levels and shortages to the production supervisor.

III) Job Requirements:

• Permanent night shift (10pm to 7am), 6-days week from Tuesdays to Sundays.
• Able to work in a very cold environment due to frozen seafood storage.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under time constraints.

IV) Qualifications and Skills:

• GCE ‘N’ Level academic qualification or equivalent. Experience working with food safety & food processing in manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Ability to operate production machinery.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
• Experience in operating a reach truck would be an advantage.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

The Air Pollution and Health team's research of Prof. Steve Yim focuses on the interactions between climate and air quality, and the resultant impacts on public health and ecosystem. The team's ongoing research is to develop, advance and utilize the state-of-the-art multi-scale atmospheric models, along with measurement and statistical approaches, to understand the mechanisms that drive the climate-air quality interactions, and evaluate the impacts on human exposure, mosquito abundance and soil acidity.

Particular interests are in investigating air quality impacts of sectoral emissions and transboundary air pollution at multiple spatial scales, studying regional climate change due to land-use changes and global climate change, and evaluating and quantifying the effects of air pollution on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The team also assesses and develops emission control scenarios to provide scientific-based policy solutions for a sustainable environment in present and future years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess the association between interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and air pollutants in Southeast Asia
• Develop a prediction system to forecast air quality and the risk of ILD with group members
• Work on the data collection, processing, and analyses
• Help in the ground-level observations of air quality in Singapore using LiDARs. Document the results in reports
