Responsibilities
· To only carry out any lifting operation when a lifting supervisor is present or has approved the carrying out of such operation.
· To only engage in acts or manoeuvres per the standard practice or company’s SOP.
· To ascertain whether the ground conditions, on which a mobile crane is to be operated, are safe for travel and suitable for any lifting operation.
· To only use the crane for operations for which it is intended.
· To only manoeuvre or hold suspended loads over public roads or areas after that road or area has been cordoned off.
· To ensure that any outrigger, when it is required, is fully extended and secured.
· Before the start of every work shift, perform operational tests on all limit switches under no load conditions before any lifting operation is carried out and enter the results of such tests in a form or checklist specified by the management.
· To report any failure or malfunction of the crane to the lifting supervisor.
· To ensure that any stationary truck-mounted or wheel-mounted crane is adequately and securely blocked on a slope.
· To only hoist objects for which the weight has been ascertained.
· To only hoist loads if the path of the manoeuvre is clear and to report obstructions, if any, to the lifting supervisor.
· To only hoist loads when a certified signalman has received a clear signal.
· Attend daily toolbox meetings with supervisors and workers for effective consultation, communication and coordination before the commencement of work.
· Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
· Ensure compliance with relevant government regulations and the company’s quality, safety, health and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices and procedures.
Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of working experience in a similar capacity in marine or related industry.
· Knowledge and understanding of construction safety rules and procedures.
· Valid crane operator license.
· Physically fit due to the requirement to climb in and out of the crane cabin and to see and hear lifting supervisors, signalmen, HSE personnel etc.
· Good communication skills.
· A team player with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
