At Peptobiotics we have built a new biotechnology product to replace the billions of dollars of antibiotics currently used in agriculture - enabling a productive, sustainable food system free from disease, and helping prevent the superbug crisis. We take an economic viability-first philosophy to synthetic biology product development. Our strain and bioprocess teams work together designing our product around straightforward scale-up and efficient unit economics. In just 2 years with only seed funding we prototyped the first commercial antimicrobial peptides for aquaculture and achieved multiple successful animal trials. Then in 2024 we raised Series A and scaled our manufacturing to 8000L, sold to customers in SE Asia and helped them save their crops from bacterial infections - without having to resort to antibiotic use. In 2025 we are scaling to 40000L+ bioreactors and also launching new products - this presents formidable challenges in strain and peptide engineering. We are looking for an inventive, high-initiative molecular biologist who can be our CTO's right hand in our R&D lab.

OBJECTIVES

• Design, oversee, and implement projects to genetically modify microorganisms to produce recombinant proteins for use in agriculture and industrial biotechnology.
• Perform lab duties including molecular cloning, microbial genetic manipulation; high-throughput protein expression screening, activity assays, strain engineering, etc.
• Design genetic constructs, new assays and strain improvement workflows by reviewing literature and undertaking interviews with subject matter experts.
• Lead team members and mentor junior lab members.
• Perform in silico genetic construct design.
• Involvement in writing of patent applications.

REQUIREMENTS

• Adept molecular biology problem solver – demonstrated experience designing/establishing new systems or lab protocols, trouble shooting, etc.
• Experience with yeast or fungal secreted protein production optimization desirable but not required.
• Previous involvement with rational or high throughput protein/peptide engineering also applicable.

As a key member of the Sales Support Team, the Customer Care (Sales Support) reports to the Head of Sales (Singapore and Malaysia). The role focuses on delivering excellent service to our customers with dedicated market focus. Hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project’ (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical engineering or related field
• Experience with enzyme engineering and enzyme library construction
• Expertise with HT screening, assay design and development and trouble shooting
• Experience in structural biology and molecular modelling/computational enzyme design would be a plus
• Preferred experience with protein production, purification, characterization and crystallization knowledge
• Preferred experience with metabolic engineering/synthetic biology background
• Strong communication with structured reporting and organizational skills

Job Description:

1. Minimum 8 years of architectural experience with recognised Diploma in relevant field, and at least 5 years of experience in construction supervision for projects of similar scale and complexity in local context.
2. Work as Resident Technical Officer to our LTA projects, to assist and report to RE and SRE to monitor all site activities, and any incident, including near-misses. Report any non-compliance to RE and Qualified Person Supervision (QPS).
3. Assist Engineer in carrying out supervision for related works include but not limited to replacement and extension, construction and reconfiguration of viaduct/ bridge works, and associated civil works, proposed new flexible pavement and infrastructure, re-alignment of roadways, fencing and construction.
4. Prepare daily reports at regular basic and as required by clients.
5. Supervise all construction activities and ensure compliance to all plans/drawings, risk assessment and specifications.
