This is a contract position with a large consultancy company for a rail project. 2 roles are available - Rolling Stock Engineer with 10-15 years experience and a Senior Rolling Stock Engineer with 15-20 years experience.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborating on the design of new trains or retrofitting older models.
· Integrating mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
· Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, EN standards).
· Developing and overseeing maintenance schedules for rolling stock.
· Inspecting trains for wear, defects, and safety compliance.
· Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or software issues.
· Analyzing energy efficiency and proposing improvements (e.g., aerodynamics, braking systems).
· Implementing lightweight materials or advanced technologies to enhance performance.
· Optimizing passenger comfort, noise reduction, and ride stability.
· Conducting performance tests, such as braking, speed, and stability trials.
· Validating the design under various environmental and operational conditions.
· Ensuring integration with digital systems, such as train control and signalling.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical systems, and software integration.
- Familiarity with railway safety standards and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Project management and communication abilities.
