Job Description:
The Preschool Teacher will be expected to participate in a democratic, creative and collaborative team environment in which authentic learning and personal growth are nurtured through a variety of child centric experiences. We use an internationally developed curriculum framed by the Reggio Emilia approach in our environment. Teachers are active participants and contribute fully to the development of the classroom environment, observations, planning and implementation of project work and other curriculum.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that students achieve learning objectives that is aligned to the school’s continuum of learning as well as mission,vision and philosophy.
- Design and maintain weekly lesson plans
- Observe and document children’s progress based on the continuum of learning based on their individual level on an ongoing basis. This includes, rubrics, assessments and portfolios
- Establish and communicate clear expectations for students inclusive of respect, kindness,, collaboration, participation , community-building and problem-solving.
- Work with students in a democratic fashion modeling good citizenship, critical and creative thinking and responsibility as a classroom and school community member.
- Establish and form partnerships with parents and families to build a collaborative learning community
- Create a purposeful environment for learning through daily provocations and invitations, intentional presentation of materials centered around hands-on learning opportunities, and documentation.
- Provide effective supervision of children at all times and during transitions.
- Collaborate with team of teachers and staff to plan and organize events for the school and children.
Candidates must possess at least one of the following:
Diploma/Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education
Certified L2 Teacher by ECDA
Requirements:
- 5 days work week, with minimal Saturday duty
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in a preschool or childcare setting.
