ABOUT THE COMPANY
Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD)
The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) was established as a non-profit organisation on 1 August 2021 with a mission to support the decarbonisation of the maritime industry by shaping standards, deploying solutions, financing projects, and fostering collaboration across sectors.
Founded by six industry partners namely BHP, BW Group, Eastern Pacific Shipping, Foundation Det Norske Veritas, Ocean Network Express and Seatrium (formerly Sembcorp Marine), GCMD also receives funding from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) for qualifying research and development programmes and projects. To-date, over 100 centre- and project-level partners have joined GCMD–contributing funds, expertise, and in-kind support to accelerate the deployment of scalable low-carbon technologies and lowering adoption barriers.
GCMD is strategically located in Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering hub and second largest container port.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Content Manager will support the Director of Communications in crafting compelling, clear, and impactful content to advance GCMD’s mission to decarbonise the maritime sector.
This role involves working across functional teams to translate research, pilot project findings into accessible content that resonates with a broad audience, including industry stakeholders, policymakers, and the general public.
- Strategic and analytical with the ability to process and interpret complex information/disparate data/difficult concepts into easy-to-understand and persuasive copy/messaging.
- Produce leadership reports and presentations, videos, web content, social media content, brochures and other literature.
- Develop and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendor.
- Support in the angling and development of PR materials related to thought leaderhip launches and campaigns, and engagement with media if necessary.
Content Development and Writing
- Analyse and simplify complex information, project outcomes, research findings, and intricate concepts into clear, compelling and persuasive messaging.
- Develop high-quality, engaging, and clear content across multiple platforms, including press releases, newsletters, LinkedIn posts, social media, and website.
- Assist in crafting and developing PR materials for thought leadership launches, including media engagement when needed.
- Ensure all content aligns with the organisation’s voice, values, and mission, making complex information accessible to a diverse audience.
Research
- Conduct in-depth research on industry-related topics to produce factually accurate and relevant content.
Content Planning and Calendar Management
- Contribute to content planning and editorial calendar development, aligned with key project milestones, industry events, and communication goals.
- Provide recommendations on content types and formats that best suit specific platforms and audience needs.
Editing and Quality Control
- Review and edit content to ensure clarity, coherence and consistency with organisational standards.
- Ensure all content is fact-checked, and free of errors, enhancing credibility and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
- Minimum bachelor’s degree with preferably 5-10 years of experience in Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of content strategy development.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to grasp the GCMD brand voice.
- Strong research skills and the ability to quickly grasp complex contents and translate them into engaging content.
- Strong multi-tasker who possesses strong initiative.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about sustainability and maritime decarbonisation.
- Team player, highly motivated, ability to work independently and confidently under pressure.
