The Role
The HR Director at Tsao Foundation will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of all human resource functions. This position requires strong leadership in managing recruitment, employee relations, benefits, compensation, training, compliance, and organizational development. The HR Director will work closely with senior leadership to align HR strategies with the goals of the organization while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations related the foundation mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Planning & Leadership:
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the overall mission and goals.
- Advise senior leadership on HR-related issues, trends, and challenges.
- Foster an inclusive work place culture that promotes employee engagement, performance and retention.
2. Recruitment & Staffing:
- Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains highly qualified talent for social service roles.
- Provide guidance on job descriptions and salary proposal and hiring decisions
3. Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution:
- Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, handling grievances, disputes, and performance issues in a fair and timely manner.
- Provide guidance to managers on best practices in employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Ensure a work environment that adheres to best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
4. Training & Development:
- Provide guidance on employee training and professional development programs tailored to the social service environment.
- Support career development initiatives and succession planning for key positions.
5. Compensation & Benefits:
- Oversee compensation and benefits programs to ensure they are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization’s budget.
- Provide guidance on salary structures, pay raises, and bonuses.
6. Compliance & Legal Affairs:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal labor laws, as well as industry-specific regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in labor laws and best practices related to social service work.
7. Performance Management:
- Develop and oversee performance management systems.
- Work with managers to address underperformance employees.
8. Organizational Development:
- Lead initiatives that foster a high-performance culture, including team-building activities and organizational health assessments.
- Develop change management strategies to navigate organizational change effectively.
- Support strategic initiatives such as restructuring, expansion, or reorganization as needed.
9. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all organizational practices, including recruitment, hiring, and professional development.
- Ensure policies and practices promote an equitable and respectful work environment for all employees.
Qualifications:
1. Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in human resources managerial position, with at least 3 years in a lead role, preferably within the social services or non-profit sector.
- Knowledge of social service regulations and understanding of the unique challenges faced by social service organizations.
2. Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices, particularly in the social service and non-profit sectors.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
