RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the Teachers and AHPs to prepare and assess student's readiness for job attachments and job placements.
- Identify and provide support to develop the students' confidence and interest in the job before job attachments.
- Source and arrange for job attachment opportunities for students. (School based, community based and industrial based).
- Provide job matching for students.
- Analyse and evaluate the suitability of the job site.
- Prepare the students for job attachments.
- Negotiate a set of employment terms with the employer after the attachment if applicable.
- Provide continued support and guidance to the students on the job.
- Work closely with families, teachers, community partners and employers in supporting students during the job attachment period and to be work ready.
- Work closely with other school staff to support and improve vocational curriculum and resources.
- Work with teachers and staff to contribute and support students IEP/ITP. • Conduct training/sharing with school staff on trends used to support students at the worksite.
- To develop training plans and materials to conduct in house training for students to prepare them for work, with accommodations and adaptations where necessary. (eg: Travel training, interview skills, grooming skills etc in collaboration with other school staff)
- To conduct pre- and post-vocational assessments of the students.
- Submit, upkeep reports and records related to attachment and job interviews. • Plan, carry out and monitor attachment in school, when attachment out of school is not available.
- Plan and co-ordinate work exposure activities such as learning journeys and Job shadowing for students.
- Work with TPC and post school agency/employer to ensure smooth transition into School-to-Work transition programme and post school services, including EDC and the MATM process.
- Support school programme to enhance students' holistic learning experience.
- Educate, communicate & work collaboratively with students' caregivers/case workers & employers to jointly support & sustain students' work attachment and experience.
- Collaborate with other departments (such as the Employment Development Centres, MINDS Institute, Caregiver Support Services, Me-Too Club, Strategic Development) to provide holistic & other positive student outcomes such as caregiver support, self-advocacy, peer support group & socio-recreational opportunities & student success stories to empower & engage student
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Degree in any discipline with at least 2 years working experience.
OTHER INFORMATION
- A strong team-player with excellent people skills. A self-motivated and independent individual.
- Willing to think out of the box when working with people with intellectual disabilities.
