Chemist

• Work Location: Jurong Island (Company transport provided near Jurong East MRT)

The Chemist is part of the pioneer team in the startup of EVAL production line, the Chemist is responsible for setup of QC Laboratory at new EVAL site, including management and training of Laboratory analyst, Laboratory system establishment and management to achieve safe and stable commissioning and startup of the new plant.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret laboratory results that are outside of the technical ability of the Lab Analysts.
• Review all process and final product test results to check for validity and possible quality related
• issues.
• Assist quality lab manager in classification for final product and compounding lots.
• Assist quality lab manager to develop and implement QC specifications and standards.
• Assist quality lab manager to establish lab system according to HSEQ requirements.
• Conduct method development and validation, review and upkeep SOP of test procedures,
• calibration procedures and analytical instruments.
• Analyse, review and troubleshoot reliability issues of laboratory equipment and analysis problem
• and develop practical solutions.
• Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Develop, implement, and follow calibration plan for equipment to ensure lab data is always
• accurate, consistent, and repeatable.
• Manage lab external agency audits and management systems certification compliance.
• Support Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Product Management functions.
• Assist lab manager, production, or other departments with special projects, as needed.
• Lead Special lab Projects and new grade trials.
• Implement and participate in safety and quality improvement activities.
• Evaluates reported results for consistency with plant process conditions.
• Trains laboratory personnel on new instruments and procedures as needed.• Conduct internal audits on the proper execution of test methods.
• Liaise with Supplier, execute procurement process and receipt.
• Monitor and follow up on daily lab analysis result for accuracy and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in analytical lab with manufacturing facility
• Experience required in new Laboratory set up, system establishment.
• Experience required with GC, ICP, GC-MS, Antek, KF, IR, UV, Extruder, DSC etc.
• Experience required in statistical process control and statistical quality control.
• Experience preferred in polymer testing and analytical techniques.
• SAP & LIMS experience preferred.

Apparel and Accessories Costing Team is a function of Apparel and Accessories Supply Chain, driving costing model that is transparent, fair and fully digital across apparel and accessories. The team provides predictability, scalability and benchmarking of Nike manufacturing costs that improves end to end margin planning, cost mitigation and sourcing decisions. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate should have relevant experience and knowledge in Apparel/Accessories industrial engineering, costing, product construction, or production management. Good in product complexity analysis, workflow study and data management skills. Have good communication in technical manufacturing concepts with other stakeholders. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Cost Engineer, this role will work closely with ACE managers and directors in optimizing the cost models in Nike, creating SAM/SMV database, managing the product cost analysis from manufacturing perspective, and driving cost improvement with best practice sharing. She/He will closely collaborate with both Nike internal and external stakeholders including factory partners to understand, collect and analyze the cost-related information, and then align the standard and processes.

Core Responsibilities include:

• Product Cost Engineering Analysis

1. Assist the Director/IE (Industrial Engineer) managers to design and enhance the product cost review tools (e.g. Product Standard Minutes - SAM/SMV database, Cost Matrices & Calculators) for quick and accurate product cost assessment.
2. Analyze the product cost based on style constructions, factory cost structure and other related cost factors e.g. Manufacturing efficiency during product development.
3. Liaise with Factory Partners (mostly their costing or IE teams) in case of critical gap (e.g. in SAM/SMV or other related production process) vs their quotation. Support the product development to resolve the costing challenges from product perspective.

• Update Nike cost model

1. Collect, review and analyze manufacturing information from factories or market research (machines, workflow, output/efficiency…) for setting the reasonable and sustainable cost models.
2. Track and report cost drivers (e.g. SAM/SMV, Efficiency/Productivity) Study the impact and drive the review with the key functions including factory partners, Manufacturing Engineering team and Product creation team.

• Improve factory cost performance

1. Collect and analyze production data. Report the factory performance through scoring Manufacturing Index or other measurements.
2. Study and share the best practice to improve the cost performance of factories. Regularly review and update any related cost benchmarks.
