Job Summary:

To build and develop the regional Upstream Energy portfolio as part of the Energy and Power team. Contribute to a profitable portfolio of Energy and Power business by developing an understanding of Upstream Energy underwriting principals and disciplines through discussions and research. Drive the growth objectives of the portfolio by identifying opportunities and performing delegated tasks. The candidate will be a key component of the Regional Energy team focusing on Upstream Energy both operational and construction risks and benefit from training, travel opportunities and mentorship at both a branch and international level. Key Responsibilities:

• Build, manage and develop an Exploration and Production risk portfolio, both operational and construction.
• Manage workflow for receipt and tracking of all submissions in line with HDI triage procedure and response back to brokers / cedants accordingly within an allocated timeframe.
• Underwriting analysis for new and renewal business. Collating, analyzing and presenting data for Underwriter review, including:-
  • Completion of rating template in line with agreed processes and standards following assessment of underwriting submission

  • Accurate appraisal of named insured, cedants and broker to ensure compliance with international Sanctions
  • Upstream accumulation management.
  • Management of regional portfolio of North Africa, Middle East (MENA), India, Asia and Pacific (APAC).
• Regular and ad-hoc engagement with other key functions of the business inc. Claims, Natural Catastrophe Modelling, International Programs, HRC (Risk Engineering), Finance (Credit Control) and Operations.
• Handling and developing current administrative functions including:-

  • Maintaining accuracy of risk records and adherence to internal best-practice

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in any discipline
• Possess or are working towards an insurance qualification from ACII, AAII, ANZIIF or SCI
• 7 or more years of relevant experience in a reinsurance underwriting function within specialty lines and handling international inwards programs
• 5 or more years of Upstream Energy underwriting experience.

Context:

In this role, you will report to the Chief Risk Officer, APAC. You will a key member of the APAC Credit Risk team in Singapore to ensure that all trading activities are in line with the credit risk requirements of the GEMS Risk Policy and the approved limit framework:

• Assessing credit risk and credit worthiness of APAC counterparties

• Setting, monitoring and enforcing credit risk limits

• Credit risk reporting & analysis

• Tailoring globally consistent monitoring and control processes to suit local requirements

Role:

As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will report to the APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer. You will collaborate to the fulfillment of the objectives of the department and may be involved in projects spanning multiple groups across commercial functions and staff.

Note: This is a 9 months - 1 year contract role.

The main responsibilities are to:

- Assess creditworthiness of counterparties in close collaboration with Front Office and other support functions
