Job Summary

This will include preparing the quarterly reserves, uploading these into SCORs systems (accounting system and reserving data warehouse), understanding and analysing the results and movements, reviewing the work of other team members, and producing reports. It will also include preparation of settlement statements for an external

retrocession, and User Acceptance Testing of actuarial model changes.

You will have the opportunity to liaise with colleagues across the SCOR group, explaining the results to our stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to participate in strategic projects.

About the Department: APAC Actuarial

The APAC Actuarial team is based in SCOR’s offices in Singapore, Sydney, Beijing and Seoul, and covers both Life & Health and Property & Casualty business. This includes business written in c.30 countries and 13 legal entities in the region. We are a diverse and engaged team, providing expert actuarial analysis and insight for our stakeholders. The department is led by the Head of L&H Reserving for Asia Pacific.

Key duties and responsibilities

Valuation & Closing Process

1. Review and production support of the IFRS 4, IFRS 17 and Solvency II for the North Asia market
2. Liaise with local Technical Accounting team to produce IFRS result
3. Respond to the external actuarial audit process for North Asia and relationships with local auditors on actuarial topics
4. Liaise with IT to streamline and automate valuation process
5. Assist in drafting actuarial valuation reports for IFRS and solvency II for North Asia market
6. Perform the annual/half yearly Analysis of Change process on SII and IFRS17 results
7. Prepare the quarterly settlement statements for Covea retrocession, and assist in creating a longer-term solution to automate this process
8. Standardise and continuously improve reserving processes, analysis and controls.
9. Check & review others work as part of the ‘do, check, review’ process

Modelling

1. Assist with quarterly Prophet User Acceptance Testing
2. Propose improvements on tools and methodology
3. Update the Best Estimate assumptions and other parameters in the Prophet model
4. Contribute to group/global projects
5. Assist the North Asia market’s contribution to the SCOR Group IFRS17 project, including:

• Testing and dry run activities
• Prophet model process enhancements
• Communicating with global stakeholders to keep up with progress developments

Experience:

• Nearly or newly qualified actuary (FSA, FIA, FIAA, or equivalent)
• 6 to 11 years relevant experience in a insurance/reinsurance business or equivalent capabilities
• Experience of experience analysis and best estimate assumption setting
• Experience of reserving/valuation – Best estimate liability valuation, and/or IFRS 17 and Solvency II experience preferred
• Experience of producing and checking future cash flows using actuarial software preferably with Prophet.
• Experience of reviewing others work and managing tasks independently

Job Responsibilities:

1. Daily Operations

• Perform routine daily inspections around the building and surrounding areas to check for building defects, safety issues and non-compliance of building regulation and house rules.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and identify and propose necessary repair, maintenance and improvement works.
• Supervise and inspect works of the service providers that provides maintenance or repair services.
• Update maintenance records in Yardi Elevate (FM) system, stock inventory, and request of quotations for minor works.
• Attend to tenants’ requests, feedback and closing the loop with them.
• Monitor tenancy fit-out and building improvement works and carry out daily inspection of tenant’s premises during fitting out works.
• Generates work orders for the service providers to carry out the work.
• Ensure that the isolation of fire alarm/hot work is properly carry out by the service providers.
• Response/operate the fire alarm system in Fire Command Centre (FCC).
• To oversee and supervise the security officers in the manning and controls of the drop-off point.

2. Housekeeping/ Cleaning

• Lead and conduct regular joint inspection with cleaning service provider and oversee the work activities of housekeeping personnel.
• Report cleaning deficiency and track its closure.
• Conduct frequent daily check on all critical and common areas of the building and liaise closely with the cleaning service provider.

3. Security System

• In charge of daily operations in the FCC and monitor daily attendance of security officers.
• Ensure that security officers carry out duties according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Monitor CCTV and card access system and report any incidents or fault immediately.
• Attend and manage any emergency situations on site like fire alarms and bomb threats etc.
• Organise and assist fire safety manager in fire drills and safety inspections.
• Conducts periodic checks for security and safety related equipment such as fire alarms, extinguishers and CCTV etc.
• Ability to assist tenants on access cards programming and any problem encountered by the tenants.

4. Carpark Operations

• Conduct daily check of carpark system and monitor manual raising of carpark barrier.
• Ensure that the carpark system is functioning well.
• Updates the season carpark holder on the monthly basis.

5. Landscaping and Pest Control

• Daily inspection of landscaped areas and supervise the landscaping service provider in carrying out pest control measure.
• To carry out the pest control inspection personally on the need basis.
• Conduct daily inspection of all drainage systems, toilets and pantry area.

The Asset & Wealth Management Strategic Transformation Office is a recently established entity tasked with overseeing comprehensive large-scale transformations. Group Reporting

• Support the production of L&H reserves for Group results (IFRS 4, IFRS 17, SII) each quarter, participating in the landing process and ensuring the results are robust.
• Provide value adding insight on the drivers of financial performance, movements in IFRS and SII results, experience emergence, and recommendations for management actions.
• Support the annual assumption update process, reviewing the experience analysis produced by the business and leveraging the analysis to set the best estimate assumptions, working in conjunction with the other APAC L&H actuarial team leaders.

Performing the full spectrum of duties required as a quantity surveyor

Managing all contracts/sub-contracts activities, including meeting project budget, ensuring profitability, contract/sub-contract terms and conditions, and scheduling procurement activities to meet project deadlines.
