Brief Description

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the incumbent for the Teacher position is a Part-Time position mainly to manage the classroom and facilitate supervision and guidance at BCARE Joy Connection Student Care Centre (JOYC).

Job Responsibilities

I Teaching and Classroom Management

1. Supervise students and ensure that all daily homework assigned by the school is completed before the child returns home.

2. Provide guidance and prepare the students for their school English and Chinese spelling test.

3. Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and discipline in the classroom. Prepare, create, and improve teaching aids and materials, charts, and worksheets.

4. Decorate wall displays that depict the relevant theme, subject, or event.

5. Update and maintain the Star Award system.

6. Guide and keep students constructively engaged in activities that are developmentally and educationally appropriate through positive management

Strategies. Plan & conduct in-house holistic development programme

7. Attend staff meetings and staff-sharing sessions.

II Provide Welfare for Students

8. Pick up students from nearby school or destinated pick up points during school terms. Do home visitation when necessary.

9. Nurture and provide care for the child’s personal needs such as child-bathing, medication, meals etc.

10. Communicate and work closely with parents or the Centre Manager for the development and growth of the child.

Part-time from 1pm to 7pm (Mondays to Fridays)

Chinese Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach basic chinese skills including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Compose lesson plans in order to successfully incorporate the full duration of each lesson.
• Execute lessons efficiently using different styles of teaching depending on the content.
• Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere.
• Instruct students about the structure and content of the chinese language.
• Teach students the spelling of words, and their meanings.
• Emphasize the rules of composition, grammar and sentence construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

The main responsibility of the PE Teacher is to plan and conduct PE lessons for all classes according to the PE curriculum and programmes. The PE teacher is also expected to support teachers in achieving the centre and programme goals in close partnership with the Therapists, Social Workers, Psychology Associates, Administrative Staff and Families of the children.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Planning, organising and collaborating in sports related events/activities
• Care, maintenance, and inventory of all PE equipment
• Assist teachers to issue, file, and update PAR-Q forms
• Manage Fire Safety matters in the centre and conduct fire drills
• Management and inventory of First Aid Kits in the centre
• Carry out recommended therapeutic interventions recommended by therapist (OT/PT).
